I found out a few useful things about that amulet business.

There are three pieces total. It's meant to be one for each race, and they're supposed to be brought together during an annual ceremony - with two of them missing long enough to apparently be found in that excavation site, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that hasn't happened in quite some time. The Stonefolk don't seem to have ever lost theirs.

The timing for the ceremony itself is a few weeks out. Gil-san's overlay thinks we have until the end of the month to try and wrangle it into happening, and that'll require not only getting the pieces to the right people but finding a human who'd be willing to bring it to the ceremony.

I'm not sure what the ceremony entails beyond that, but this gives us something to work with, at least.

That depends entirely on the summit.

I'm also not sure one will help right now, since the humans, by and large, literally do not believe the other races exist.

... That's. That's a fair point. And it's tricky to introduce that kind of thing. I know that from experience.

And it is a matter of safety to at least the forest folk to have the humans not believe in them.

So convincing them to reveal themselves might not only be hard, but also endanger them.

Interesting. Why does it have to be a human? Could not each one of the races bring their piece to the ceremony?

At any rate, I will attempt to take a look at these pieces and the excavation. It is, however, quite annoying that I must do so while being a mouse.

Well, that's the theory. Return the one to the Forest Folk and they'll show up on time, as would the Stonefolk with their bit. The trouble is that the humans, by and large, don't believe the others exist at the moment.

The pieces aren't at the excavation site anymore. I don't know where they've been spirited off to, but a museum would be a solid guess, if there's one in town.

...I have something that might be able to help, if it works on Overlays.

I found out recently that I can invite people into my dreams. And giving the right people vivid dreams of bringing the amulet together might help and... wouldn't even be out of place here.

If you're doing that through the network, it may not work on overlays. Besides, that approach is highly likely to backfire, if you don't find someone who believes their dreams are telling them something important.

If you cannot do it on the network, I may have an alternative way. An overlay of mine could enter people's dreams as part of his werewolf powers, and I kept them. Unfortunately, he had an aura of fear he could lessen but not quite turn off, so he used it instead. His specialty was nightmares.

I could settle for a feeling of unease. I do not want to cause them grief. The advantage of scaring someone is they take it more seriously, but it may also cause them to take measures to forget or stop dreaming altogether.

How old do they have to be? It wouldn't be hard to convince a child to do it, once we got our hands on the amulet thing.

It'll go far more smoothly and stand a chance of being properly repeated when we're gone if it's a local human. I'm just not in any position to figure out who the best candidates for it might be.

Well, we'll just have to poke around. We until the end of the month to find someone and convince them. There's got to be a few candidates around.

Could we steal them and put 'em together ourselves? There's some of us in every group...

In theory, yes. In practice, we probably will have to steal them, but if we put them together ourselves, there's a chance no one will remember to do it again next year.

Should we gather a list of human infiltrators to see what options we have? I'm afraid I can't help with that, unfortunately, since I'm very new here.

Two questions.

One, does it matter how old the person doing it is.

Two, what happens if someone takes all the amulet pieces and puts them together without the others? How bad would that be?

I don't know but probably not, and I don't know but I don't think it would be anything good.
