Wrinkle in the plan, guys, Beatrice moved the amulet. She made a really big deal about storing it under guard in the top of her tower, so my guess is it's anywhere but the tower. We don't have much time to work on this. Thoughts?

My first one, frankly, is 'tase the bejeezus out of her and loot her while she's unconscious,' but there's no guarantee that would turn up clues.

If you are cute and well-behaved and quiet, a lot of people will forget that you are there or dismiss you, and then you can be in places and listen to things that you couldn't be in or listen to if they were properly aware of you. Even professional bodyguards and such will not pay as much attention if they aren't good.

If you are cute, you can get people to give you food or let you see someone or let you touch something, and such, that they wouldn't normally let you have or do.

Sometimes you can make angry people be less angry if you are just a cute harmless person, but that's the one that is the most dangerous to use because the consequences of you having misjudged are the worst.

And you can get out of having to do work if you use it at the right people! People will do tons of stuff for you.

[She's a very skilled user of the cute weapon. It's one of the specializations that she can offer her team back home, and her motley in the other home, that only she has to offer.]

.... well, that explains why the father that I met was so insistent that I stay with him and his son. I was cute, alone, and upset as well as smaller than most humans. He could not help but bring me home.

... I used it by accident on my first Jaunt as well. I looked very truly like a well-mannered teenager, and when I was arrested, I was only treated well, barely questioned, and then released to my father and Elphaba, who was posing as my mother at the time.
