[There's a brief burst of what sounds like radio static on the mental airwaves, a couple of sensations and flashes akin to the telempathic signalling of a Jangwan dragon...

And then, voices. One familiar enough on the network, the other new, high pitched and musical with a faint sound like feedback to it which steadily clears up as the speaker talks.]

Okay. You hearing this? [asks Kanji, though sounding a spot distant.] Can you...

[The new voice chirps in:] Mm! I ... Um, am I... Is this working?

Yeah. I think so. ...Uh, it's an open line.

Oh! H-hi everyone? This is... This is Piyo? Uh, I'm a Pogemon. ... I don't know, this is scary, it sounds weird... But I think I can hear you?

Uh...no guarantees, but you learn to tune it out. You can learn to turn it off entirely, even, but I haven't learned that yet myself.

[Kanji cuts in briefly.]

It's more like I'm passin' my side of the network connection over to Piyo, I can switch it off if it gets too much. Still working on shutting it up for myself.

[The bird cuts back in with a cheep and:]

Oh. Okay.

Oh, that's so cool! So, Piyo, d'you think other bonded people could do the same thing if their Traveler partners worked on it? Like a Psychic Entourage, or something?

I 'unno what that is, but... probably?

Right. You need to put some more ... uh, psychic power into the link than you'd normally be usin' to talk to people. Gotta have some real juice behind it. Other folks should be able to do it, though.

Oh neat. So it's like boosting a signal...sort of. More power means more people around you can pick it up. I should have learned about radio stuff when I was learning about synthesizers...

Think I need to learn the rest of it myself sometimes.. Uh. Yeah, pretty much. Kinda set up a ... brain relay and boost it from there.

Hm. Hey, if you want to, we can probably mess around with that now that people can just make electronic blueprints. Seems like the next logical step for me, and I know you remembered a lot of Kyan's skill with it.

Well, it was mostly ... the actual stuff to do with astronomy? How to see what different signals are doing and sort 'em out? But I'm up for playin' around with it, yeah.
