The network's first tweet.

[There's a brief burst of what sounds like radio static on the mental airwaves, a couple of sensations and flashes akin to the telempathic signalling of a Jangwan dragon...

And then, voices. One familiar enough on the network, the other new, high pitched and musical with a faint sound like feedback to it which steadily clears up as the speaker talks.]

Okay. You hearing this? [asks Kanji, though sounding a spot distant.] Can you...

[The new voice chirps in:] Mm! I ... Um, am I... Is this working?

Yeah. I think so. ...Uh, it's an open line.

Oh! H-hi everyone? This is... This is Piyo? Uh, I'm a Pogemon. ... I don't know, this is scary, it sounds weird... But I think I can hear you?

Do you know how to build a firewall around your brain yet?

[She means Psychic Protection I.]

What do you use, then?

[That might change how she describes muting, because to her it is just tightening the firewall until nothing can get through any more. She's still working on getting muting selectively, because that obviously doesn't quite work with that way of looking at it. At least not with her understanding of programming. So maybe this will actually turn out helpful.]

[Hmmmmmmm...]

Okay. Imagine that everything on the network is encrypted, and you continuously have a white noise filter running that makes you not go crazy with all the constant chatter on the network. The filter automatically decrypts everything that's coming in and easy enough to decrypt - heavily encrypted messages like other people's protected conversations it can't deal with and just filters out, making them a part of the white noise that gets filtered.

And you can adjust that thing so that it thinks that everything is encrypted heavily so the white noise filter will consider everything garble and catch it.

And once you're there you can probably learn how to only make some frequencies look like they're heavily encrypted and thus garble to the filter, but that requires that you know how to do it with everything first.

Piyo, it's...

You can put toned glass around your pain, so people can't look in. But you can also make it toned on both sides, so you can't look out either. [She's not sure if that will work better for the pogemon, but she at least tried.]

And yeah. It's like - you can do stuff to things that go out. You can also do the same stuff to things that come in. You don't want others to be able to read something that goes out sometimes, and at other times you don't want to be able to read things that come in, and it's kind of the same principle.

...You know what toned glass is, right? [At which point Cynthia chimes in:] The person Piyo is with will be better able to translate it for him.

...Okay.

It is. Finding the right way to look at it, [and she thinks she's just found something to work with for muting more selectively. Encryption. That's not a bad idea] and then attaching that look into how you handle things.

[That's definitely the way healthier way of being at that age? (Though she'd say that she's running from bullies, at times, too, they're just armed a lot better than what Kanji probably experienced.)]

Good luck with getting it!
