Open to All Investigators-Beginning of Digital Frontier Jaunt

For those who are experiencing this for the first time, don't worry. Just keep calm and listen to this message.

If you're hearing this, you're what we call an investigator: someone who retains their memories from their home and other worlds if they have them while in a Jaunt. Some of us have blended in with the setting and are called Infiltrators; don't try and jog their memory back otherwise we'll be in a lot of trouble. They also cannot use the network we're on right now.

What we need to know now is who's not thinking they're a program and what they have noticed so far. Anything will help us try and figure out a way to solve this next issue.

Figuring out what we're supposed to be doing is usually part of the job description. Sometimes it's pretty obvious when we show up.

Sometimes, not so much.

Like here. At least I'm not the only one confused. I was a little afraid it was just due to how new I am to all this.

Some of it gets easier after a few.

Some it's just the same confusing shit every time.

It's been at least two years. Might be three. There's a point where nobody remembers much before, though, so I couldn't get exact for you.

Good god, that long? That's terrible....

[He doesn't quite sound horrified, but definitely disturbed. And maybe a little indignant.]

And they mess with us even outside these Jaunts, so that we can't remember things?

There's one major incident we know of that messed with our memories. Nobody can remember anything before a certain Jaunt.

[One...they know of. He's not going to assume that means it's the only time it's happened.]

That's certainly unpleasant to think about. But I suppose I'd rather know the risks than keep on being ignorant....

Ignoring shit doesn't make it go away.
