It can't hurt to try to put some pieces together now that we've had a little more time, right?

Has anyone been able to get anything other than suspicious glares from the Red Team? The more I hear, the less I like the status quo, but if we don't know what the hell they think they're doing we can't really make an informed decision on where to go from here.

I'm also trying to figure out what the... well, the purpose of the Games is. Okay, you get higher Priority out of it, great, but at what cost? If Red Team's so paranoid, why do they allow this distraction from everyone's jobs?

Why is it falling to us and Blue Team to clean up major threats? Speaking of, I hope you guys are all holding up all right, if you've been tangled up in that. The sector I was helping out with lucked out - it was a problem a lot of us have dealt with before, in a way.

No wonder Naoto's getting frustrated.

That'd definitely tally with why fighting monsters is falling to the people who aren't really prepared for it in any meaningful way.

Maybe it is. I, for one, can't help noticing there's a tower in there, which suggests a Trump right off the bat. [Or, well, it does when you're a Persona user and one of your party members was Tower. All the more reason to wish Taka-senpai was actually here.]

The thing about the tower, though... He hadn't thought of that. He's been given a list of the cards and a very brief description of each, but he has no connection to them otherwise and so he's not exactly an expert:]

The Tower is one of the cards, isn't it? What's it stand for?

[He needs a symbology lesson, clearly. Anything to help lead them to the Trump that's here, if one is in fact present.]

Like I said, our sector really lucked out.

It is, yeah. Tower is sudden upheaval - it's actually more likely to signify death than Death. Death the card is more about major transition, but Tower can be outright disaster. Something huge goes really, really wrong and you have to pick up the pieces afterward - and sometimes it's about building something better out of the wreckage.

[Naoki's life pretty solidly Towered on him, at the beginning of everything. Even without Taka-senpai and his meltdown, he has a good grasp on what Tower's all about, down to getting something good out the other end.]

[There's a huff that's... Not quite a laugh. It figures. Will there ever be a feather duster Trump or an expensive tea Trump...?? For fuck's sake.]

[It's not that he hasn't heard the second part- building something better- but he feels like that's probably better left for someone more suited to optimism than he is.

Because something's brewing here, something big just like this guy says. Levi knows it is, he'd known since the politics and climate of this system had made itself known:]

Tower's not exactly a happy card, so much as any of them ever are. [It doesn't help that two of the more positive ones are at least missing in action, if not dead.]

Maybe. One of my friends who's infiltrating might be planning something, but I haven't had a chance to ask outright - in the stands, at the Games, when you have to get past Red Team to leave isn't the time for anything other than rhetorical gymnastics. But if anyone can pull it off, it's Naoto.

[Destruction and mayhem hadn't struck him as particularly happy, no... But sometimes you have to call a Tower a Tower, and if tearing down this mess is what they're here for, maybe the Travelers are meant to embody the second part as well. Pissed as he is about being forced into this, the only choice Levi'd been able to make is to do what he can for these places if he's stuck here whether he wants to be or not; he's been clinging to the illusion of that choice for as long as he's been doing this.

The next thing the guys says, though... That sounds like something Levi can grasp a little more firmly:]

Planning something? [OH HO?? A trip to the Games or an area nearby might be in order after all...] Like what?

[Sometimes, the most good comes out of something that looks terrible at first. Sometimes, the best thing that ever happened to you starts with your sister being murdered. And the very fact that they're here already has changed things; they might as well try to make it a positive one, in the long term.]

I don't know for sure, but she's frustrated with the treatment they're getting from Red Team, not at all fond of the Games, and interested in our lack of Priority. Did a lot of talking around the fact that something ought to be done - but like I said, when you're surrounded by paranoid bastards with the authority to kill you for open sedition, that's not the best place to say 'and I'm going to do it.'

I have my suspicions, though. Naoto doesn't do verbal gymnastics without a good reason.

[For someone who seems to spout nothing but negativity, Levi's certainly dedicated to positive change. HE AGREES, KID. Let's... Do our best...!!

I'd be more than frustrated, but it sounds like she's on the right track. [Levi's first impression here was surprise- he'd been pissed on the Miners' behalf.] What's she look like, this friend of yours? I'd like to speak with her in person.

[He regrets precisely nothing about getting Erwin into trouble when the alternative would have been to let Erwin continue on in a role that'd made Levi vaguely nauseous over just how wrong it'd been, but if this guy's friend isn't a Defender he won't jeaopardize by being stupid about it no matter how much he wants to know what she's planning, so he adds:]

When it won't put her at risk, obviously. We need to protect our own here as well.

[Something he takes pretty damn seriously- it's the reason he hasn't said shit about the fact that the person he's closest with was- before Levi had gone and fucked it up for him, of course- a Defender with a pretty high priority. Levi will question Erwin himself and share with the class without hesitation, but he won't subject him to outside interrogation.]

Short, blue hair, has a hat. Going by SHIRO at the moment. [Possibly also genderless, currently, but that's a whole different can of worms.]

What sort of hat?

[Any distinguishing features help okay don't judge him. Plus the Defenders have those stupid ass visors.... Yeah, let's... Not walk into one of those.]

And what about her suit? Is she classified as a Miner, in blue?

...I don't know hat names. It has a small brim only on the front? It's blue?

[Probably, technically, this is a pageboy hat. All Naoki knows is Naoto stole it from her father when she was little.]

She is with the Miners, yeah.

[Levi doesn't even know the real name for the accessory he wears himself and so hat names are out of the question- small brim and blue are better than any other descriptor Naoki could have given him, the most helpful.

The colour, though... Levi snorts.]

So... "Blue Team" all around. Got it.

Blue is kind of Naoto's default color anyway. It worked out nicely.

...That's probably pushing it.

[He can't really know about Naoto, of course, but Levi fucking hates infiltrating. H A T E S. He will stay forever salty about the fact that his first two Jaunts had been spent as someone else- the Trumps hadn't even given him the option to cooperate on his own. He's so butthurt you have no idea, and so he can't imagine anyone not being at least a little pissed off upon their return to themselves.

But thanks for the tip, and the information about the Tower. It's something to consider, in relation to our own role here and the Trump that might be present... [Oh, but he's just remember one more thing:] Does it have a number? That card, I mean.

[Not that he thinks it's gonna be that easy, but he has noticed that some of the programs here have numbers in their names...]

[He has to think for a moment on the card number.] Um... sixteen? I think. It's one of the higher ones, I know that.

[Higher than his own native Arcana, anyway.]

Sixteen. [Hopefully there aren't any innocent programs tied to that number- if there are, they're gonna find themselves with Captain Crabby so far up their ass they'll be sneezing cravats and feather dusters...] Noted.

Other than that, I know a thing or two about tarot - enough to be dangerous, anyway. And the picture on Tower the card is a tower being destroyed. If what we're here to do is shake up the current status quo, it fits right in.

Those together sounds so neat it's like they gift-wrapped it for us.

Not sure whether that means I trust it more or less.

It's either way too obvious or exactly obvious enough. [In short, he agrees.]
