Altaïr's Psychic Contingency

This is Altaïr. I am... not here. I am making this message for the Network in case I am in a Dungeon but am otherwise unharmed. I do not think I need to say that I will be unavailable for conversation. Um... do not worry?

Maria, Dungeons are generally only dangerous for the rescuers. I mean, I would hope that the phantoms of my mind would not give you too much trouble. [ He wants to say I love you here, but thinks better of it. He might be making this message to thin air, but if he's doing it right, it would be public later. He always kept sentiments private. ] Malik, you can borrow Abraxas if you want. And, my apologies, my friend.

I suppose anyone could try leaving me a message here, like with the talking-tile. I'd be interested to see if I could retrieve it later.

[ ooc: Feel free to use this post for shit-talking discussion. And, he "recorded" this before Maria Thorpe had been dropped. ]

Here's a test message: you could have told either of them all of these things to their faces earlier. Men.

Also someone should test if you can filter this sort of delayed message to intended targets.

You can.

I haven't found anything you can do on the network you can't do with psychic contingency, if you're specific enough.

Hm. Does it have to be on the Network? Or do other mental skills work with it? Because this seems like a reliable way to, say, revive yourself from Infiltrator-hood if you have the skill to do that to others.

I think you can use memory restoration with it too. I suppose that 'anything you can do with the network' would be more accurate.

If you have mental skills unrelated to the network, however, I don't think they'd work.

So, the abilities we get from being Liminal, but not, say, Color spells that enchant the mind or change emotion.

That's my understanding of the skill, yes.

That makes logical sense, but I wonder...Jaunt worlds have pieces - and therefore abilities - that connect to or reflect Liminal Space. I wonder if it's the same for the mental dimension of Liminal Space, or only what we perceive as the physical.

What sort of abilities are you talking about, in terms of liminal space? The Questing Country ones I can see, but that seems a special case.

There are a few S. Techs that emulate minor things like Hammerspace, aren't there? I've also got some suspicions about Color Magic and Empowered Abilities but nothing as concrete.

There is hammerspace, yes. And hammerspace interference, which we don't normally have, but that's it. And it's not the same as the full liminal skill - it doesn't have the aspect of object permanence, and you can't banish things to your hammerspace, you have to physically put them there, usually through an actual pocket or bag. And as far as I can tell, it doesn't work as a prerequisite for other liminal skills like the liminal hammerspace does. Although it can connect to other hammerspaces with combination skills.

So even the one of the same name has a lot of differences - and doesn't seem to work in typically liminal ways. Most importantly, it doesn't function with other skills the same way. [Most importantly in that that's what would be relevant to jaunt skills working like psychic ones.]

Although we can probably only keep skills like that because we ourselves have become liminal, they're still not based on the same set of rules as those skills that are purely liminal. That's how I see it.

[She has no message to leave, but somewhere in Liminal Space, Allura's breathing a sigh of profound relief.]
