A few of the Illuminants might be in the temple with the dragons. While it is not a certainty, the risk is too large to ignore.

One of them will likely look as i usually do, but have both arms.

I highly suggest against engaging with any of their family unless you are comfortable with being gruesomely murdered, used as a plaything or otherwise dealing with beings who do not see you as equals.

If you are fine with that, then do as you please.

Even if the Illuminants are not present, warning the local population of their existence and power is of equal importance. A forewarned people are a prepared people.

If you want to know more, I will answer as I can but I am better versed in Red's....antics than the others.

Illuminants? Are we talking technicolor wizards from Dolorosa, or is there some transdimensional mistaken identity waiting to happen?

They are a bit more than just wizards, but yes. Them.

We had an opportunity to glimpse the future, and I saw myself facing the Crimson One in a world that is, as far as anyone knows, theirs. They have already breached Liminal Space once.

Are you planning to elaborate on that?

Liminal Space isn't that different from certain other...let's skip past a few debates on cosmology and call them mystical environments. It was probably only a matter of time before something broke in.

It's a glorified purgatory, no need to sugar coat it.

The Illuminants are... spirits? Avatars? Beings of Will who are effectively the embodiment of their given color in the spectrum of magic. They change bodies when their current one is killed.

I expect they are killable, most things are, but it is likely difficult enough that we would have better luck in yelling at the sea to stop a tide from coming in.

That isn't exactly where I was going with that, but close enough.

Are they distinct entities who possess humans and body-jump when the old host isn't usable any more, or are the "Illuminants" mantles of power that pass to a suitable vessel when the old one is killed?

It may vary by Illuminant, I know that my overlay struck a bargain and becoming the current Red was the cost of it.

But did he remain himself, only altered, or was he overwritten by the Red Illuminant?

I'm not saying killing them is anything like a good idea, but I am saying the distinction might be pretty damn relevant if someone gets it into their head to try.

Overwritten, if the Illuminant left him I suspect it would leave him a soulless husk.

I, sadly, expect someone trying to prove their heroic might to attempt it based solely on their moral outrage over something that does not follow their rules of what is good or bad existing in their vicinity.

Moral outrage is kind of humanity's hat.

Believe it or not, what you're describing is probably the option that sucks less. For any hypothetical attempts to keep them from screwing over the local magical ecology, I mean, not for whichever poor sucker they sink their teeth into.

You know, if you're going to call people for a thing, you could explain what term like Illuminant means to those who don't know.

So, Rainbow Magic or Color Magic, whichever we call it [or so Weiss assumes from the line about Red and everything else plus hearing about Color Magic before.] ...I'm not very familiar with any of it but I'm fine with that list of possible dangers in going for it. So if you're gathering a group, then I'll be there.

Color Magic.

The Illuminants are effectively the embodiments of their Color. They can wield spells beyond the ability of others, and do not view the world in the goods and evils most people do.

If the Red Illuminant is there, it is not a possible danger. It is even more real of one than any battlefield. If you are set in fighting, should it come to that, know that while I will do what I can to keep you and others as safe as possible there is no true safety involved.

If you have people who care for you here, make it known that you are persuing this so that they are prepared to help you should you become harmed.

Even if they are not here now, if you are willing to assist when they are it would be.... appreciated. Even if it is not in directly confronting them.

That doesn't sound much different to what my side is up against back home, Red even sounds at least as dangerous as one of them or as bad as some who I haven't even met yet.

I'll fight if it comes to that, I've accepted the risks of fighting instead of staying in safety back home already and I'm not going to change that choice here. I appreciate trying to keep me and others safe, I'll do what I can to help too but I won't get in your way.

Yeah, I'll definitely do that before I really come along to this.
