Quuuestion.

To our knowledge, have we done a noir world or a trip to Hollywood before? Cause for all we know we did while I was absent or I forgot it, and the black and white film aesthetic is suggestive.

Film noir. Black and white movies about bad men digging into the dealings of worse ones. Private eyes digging through the dirty laundry of the corrupt and powerful.

Twice we have been to Brooklyn during what the locals think of as the 'Roaring Twenties' and been involved in the petty feuding of powerful criminal families.

Okay that implies a story I HAVE to hear.

Before I became a Traveler, altering the fate of nations seemed monstrous and remarkable. Now, we do it three times a year. Surely the stories suggest themselves.

See, I thought you were talking about a story from your world. My sister's ridiculous martial and marital arts tournaments aren't BORING, but they aren't Grand Theft Nationstate.

In my own world, twice I stood witness as a traitor attempted to unseat the queen of my homeland and replace her with a foreign invader.

It is simply that it no longer seems as momentous. We have surely done worse, at least since the Spark.

Hollywood?

I keep forgetting how few of us are from something like my Earth.

Movie-making capital of my world. They write, produce, and film all the most expensive and the most profitable movies in Hollywood.

Do I have to explain movies too? Screen-plays?

Those I'm familiar with, at least. Just hadn't heard of the place before. Of course you would have a capital for making movies...

Yeah. Needs lots of specialized skills to pull together, so you may as well have a single city to put them all in. Actors, writers, cameramen, editors, pyrotechnics and effects, stuntmen, guys to serve the coffee...

That particular three-ring circus is serious business, just as much as getting everyone bread is.

Though I sure as fuck hope we're not going to be tossed right in front of cameras or something. That'd be starting off the jaunt in a bad manner for me, since I can't appear on cameras.

Generally that sort of happens by accident, the way Osaka became restaurant city, but it happens all the time. Detroit and Ohta making cars comes to mind. Or port towns shipping things with ships.

I can't, as far as I'm aware of. It doesn't only include cameras either. It's all electric sensors you can think of.

No idea, but if the footage is any clue, I'd give it even odds of being David Suzuki or Mae West.
