Week 2, the morning after the summoning

[Exasperation. And anger at the stupidity he's about ready to mention:]

A group of idiots just managed to summon the Genius of the Entire Atlantic Ocean, whom promptly escaped their attempts to contain him and possessed their leader. The Crown Prince and the Princess were also both present--and the genius is amenable to not murdering everyone. Even deciding to bide his time to decide which one of them he may decide to support in their fight for the throne.

Even though he seems amenable enough, he can surround you with water and drown you where you stand, so don't try his considerable patience by being a prat.

[He's the one who was talking about being adopted as a pet by the prince, right?]

I'm not entirely sure. He was fairly tight-lipped and wasn't pleased I insisted on following him.

Did he know the leader of the summoners?

Vaguely, yes--he had met him before, but they weren't at least friends. Then again, it's obvious that the Princess has met him or another of his group, too. This turn of events could potentially be catastrophic.

The prince and princess are rivals for the throne, aren't they? Maybe he was hoping to gain power via one or both of them.

[And doesn't that sounds familiar to her.]

He was angry about being summoned, so I believe he was an unwilling participant. That doesn't mean he won't be opportunistic, however.

I meant the leader of the summoners.

[She doesn't doubt the ocean's not happy about being drawn here against his will. She certainly hadn't appreciated it when the Organization had done similar to her.]

Ah. Then likely, yes—especially with both contenders to the phone in the presence of the summoning. Kill both of them in one go.

You think he meant to kill them?

[Cassandra is skeptical. If he'd wanted to do that, there are other ways to do it, ones that have less personal risk attached.]

Or... are you not speaking literally?

[She's not always the best at metaphor, after all.]

I'm speaking literally in this case. That's also a possibility. Holding them for ransom, kidnapping... there are many options for what he might have been planning to do. [Jaina has given him ideas.]

I could see wanting to do that after the summon took place, but doing both at the same time seems too risky.

Just because it's risky doesn't mean someone isn't stupid enough to try. After all, he thought he could contain the Genius of the entire Atlantic Ocean.

I still don't think he'd want to kill them - not immediately. Kidnapping and ransoming, maybe. Impressing them with his prowess, definitely. Taking control of an entire ocean is grandstanding.

[She suspects Ignis might not be thinking entirely clearly on this.]

Potentially, yes. I can't confess to understanding the type of person he is.

[He's used to attempts on the lives of royals instead of kidnapping, though.]

Or what kind of history he has with this place? You said the prince knew him, but that they weren't friends.

His Highness doesn't trust me enough to give me such information, unfortunately. At the very least, their leader invited him and the princess here.

That is very true. He is possessing his body and may have access to his memories. That's what you're suggesting, yes?

Yes - he might have learned that and other things from the man he's possessing.

[Which thought honestly makes Cassandra's skin crawl a little, but if that's the only way to find out what his would-be summoner wanted...]

It'll be up to someone else to speak with him; I am being prevented from leaving. It wouldn't hurt to speak with him and see what we can learn.
