Just so you know...

For the record, I wasn't experimenting with anything. I did that whole crap by accident.
My theory is, I just managed to unlock a skill that let's me temporarily act like my overlay - as if they'd be here. I just wanted to remind myself how his whole explosion thing works to get out of the glass prison and you know the rest. [If you do.]
If anyone figures a counter I can trigger for that, let me know.
