late week two: some very special guests and some slightly old news

Okay. So. We're gonna have a special guest or two on the network in just a sec, but before that I want to play a conversation I had a little bit ago. For those of you who saw it when I showed people on Naoki's bridge, I'm sorry you have to see it again, but I know he couldn't bring everyone on back then, so it's better I play it one more time. I filtered out the smell impressions for this stream. You're welcome.

Anyway! I've just put one of the Beastfolk on the line for everyone--and I've coordinated with Naoki too, so that he'll be putting another one on at the same time. I think I've got enough brain juice to give him roughly a half-hour with us, so use your time wisely? Naoki might be able to give his a little longer.

So yeah. Everyone chime in while they're still on and we'll see where we should go from here.

What is a dreamcatcher, exactly?

It's a kind of object we learned to create on another mission. Basically, it's been enchanted to keep bad dreams away by sucking them up. We can then take that energy to power magic or create matter outside of our pocket dimension.

It also fills up with thought energy naturally whenever we're in a realm of solidified thought, which means that back in our pocket dimension it will just fill up on its own after a time.

And that, like all this other magic I'm hearing about, can just be used in our... world?

[He sounds like he can't quite believe it, but possibly also like he's getting ideas.]

I mean, probably yeah? If Noct threw fire at someone already and it worked--which is what I heard--then probably this world is one that'll let us use our magic.

I can do some magic of my own, but it's hella flashy and I don't think probably good to do while pregnant. Or, well, being inside someone who's pregnant.

Is there anyone who could... create blind spots for the midges, or hide things from camera? Or even refract light? A more convenient meeting place would be welcome.

Um, I've never actually tried doing this before, but I think one of Priestess' gifts would let me and the people around me not be identifiable for a certain amount of time. I don't know if that's enough, though.

I have reason to suspect that Circe has a way of controlling the midge cameras--or at the very least, persuading the producers to keep them away for deeds best not recorded. She told me that she could keep me from being seen while I did her dirty work--and sure enough, there were no midge cameras in the vicinity when I attempted it.

Probably the latter. I know that she's... eager to do their work, and has been given additional perks in the past.

Unfortunately, unless we could impersonate her somehow, I doubt her method will work for us.

Of course she has. Do you think that if I reminded them of the amount of money I make for them, I might request a time of no cameras...

It's possible they would grant it, and possible that the would become suspicious. I'm already running a risk with my request for materials to... take care of Humansona.

They'll probably realise something's wrong as soon as he doesn't promptly die wandering into the desert.

But if we can find a way to tell him the plan beforehand, maybe he can pretend to make preparations and buy more time.

The advantageous part of your condition, I suppose, is that there is always an excuse for you to need someone to help take you to the necessary.

Oh, I will abuse that as much as I can, but eventually they'll get suspicious even so. I can tell you this, the day when I no longer have to feverishly balance risk and necessessity, and constantly recalculate probability of reprisal will be a sweet day, even if it is cut short.
