Okay. So. We're gonna have a special guest or two on the network in just a sec, but before that I want to play a conversation I had a little bit ago. For those of you who saw it when I showed people on Naoki's bridge, I'm sorry you have to see it again, but I know he couldn't bring everyone on back then, so it's better I play it one more time. Anyway! I've just put one of the Beastfolk on the line for everyone--and I've coordinated with Naoki too, so that he'll be putting another one on at the same time. I think I've got enough brain juice to give him roughly a half-hour with us, so use your time wisely? Naoki might be able to give his a little longer.

So yeah. Everyone chime in while they're still on and we'll see where we should go from here.

One other. Swift Productions has turned it into a nature preserve with recreated and fanciful animals. They broadcast footage from that, and have been intending to sell trips down to interact with the animals directly.

It's very far away from here, though. I believe in the former Amazon basin, but they've been secretive about the exact location to prevent sabotage.

If we could get oxygen and plant life into one of the ancient domed cities, people could live for a short time there, but I doubt it would work long-term without terraforming. The domes themselves were made for long-term, so they're probably still intact.

... Are this area and that area the only two spots that have been terraformed so far?

Yes. More could be, but with such a limited amount, the companies can wring more profits from them.

The terraforming station has at least one other completed hub and auxiliary towers ready to be sent down and kept as a backup in case one of the hubs already here fails. Sending it down would start terraforming a new area.

And if we burned down everything, they'd just restart with one of those.

... So we need to discredit them in a way they can't... hang on.

Some people were talking about hacking. It's happened before where we've broadcast misdeeds of a company all over the internet. Whatever network you've got... how controlled is the general population?

Yes.

[Acantha makes a quiet affirmative sound in place of a nod.]

Very tightly, but Orwell is dependant on them to consume their products. Swift would be happy to take Orwell's market share, if the populace can be convinced to boycott. They aren't much better, in the long-term, but the rivalry can be exploited in the short term.

... Is Orwell just an entertainment company, or does it do other things?

[With a name like Orwell he has his suspicions, but...]

Initially, but the management of the stations is so dependant on them to keep the populace controlled, that they and the management have become so intertwined as to be barely separate. It is much the same as Swift.

Both companies have their hands in technology that has... other applications than merely entertainment.
