I understand. [There's a quiet empathy to the simple words. Like he understands. Like perhaps he thinks the same way. Like that might be the reason he always returns to the simple, elegant clothes of his home rather than adapt himself.] If you ever have need of something, please do not hesitate to ask. If I do not have it within my power, I may know of someone who does.

But please, I am no landed lord, my lady. [It's gently said, but there's a discomfort behind his voice that is harder to hide mind to mind.] Ours was a humble household. Phedre may have gained land and title, but I was never a lord. I am naught but Alcuin.

His majesty and I did not have the most amicable of meetings, I fear. But I am comforted by the thought that we might have gotten to know one another better. I should very much like to learn more about him. Joscelin has told me a very little of your home, but most of it is shrouded in mystery.

Robb was always the most prideful of my siblings. When a crown was thrust upon his head, it did not help.


I am sure if he could have set that aside, he would have loved you as I do. I am sorry we all did not have more time with him.

You honor me, my lady. Dolorosa was not kind to either of us - I do not hold it against him. If we are ever given the opportunity to speak again, perhaps things will go differently.
