So, I've been wondering for a while. How do some of you do that cool stuff with our Psychic connection? Trying to figure out Liminal Space is a lot easier than trying to figure out all of this head stuff. Can anyone explain how you do it? Uhm, I probably need a more specific place to start... Can anyone tell me how to let everyone see what I'm seeing? That's one I've been trying to figure out for a while.

It did! He seemed like he was having a lot of fun. I wonder why some people can do that so easily but I'm having trouble?

[Because some of us already knew Auspex to give us a head start, she doesn't say. Instead she says,] Man, I dunno. How do you work your telepathy? I mean, how does it feel to you when you're doing this. I'm not sure if we all approach it the same way.

Oh. I haven't really thought about that before. I just focus on thinking out loud. Matching the tone of everyone that I'm hearing. It took longer to figure out I could think out loud to just one person or a small group by focusing on them really hard.

Okay, hm, have you tried focusing really hard on your sensory impressions in the same way? Like, with the intent to share them?

I have! But it never seems to work right. I can sometimes get a flash of something across, but not very well.

Hm. Okay, uh... [SHIT WHAT DO] Uh, is there anything in your personal experience you can relate it to?

The EGG? What's that? I mean, besides an acronym spelled like 'egg.'

It's a machine the scientists would hook me up to so I could ta- I mean... So I could use my Cyber Shaman powers.

[Let's not admit the talking to God thing in front of every Traveller. Some might not take that so well.]

Okay, so doing the psychic thing is like being hooked up inside the EGG? [She can work with that.] Do you think you could try to approach showing other people what you're seeing the same way you'd approach doing stuff in the EGG?

Not exactly, but it's close. So maybe...

[And then suddenly the sound of Sera humming a lullaby to herself absent-mindedly comes across the connection. She did the thing! ...Doesn't seem to realize she did the thing though.]

Oh hey, you did it!

[She sounds pretty happy about that.]

Oh... um. For me, it was just a matter of adapting something I already knew how to do. Back home, if you're wired for it, it's not hard to send audio or visual feedback over a connection. That's just technology, but if I think about doing those things here, it works with the network. I'm not sure I could explain it to someone who doesn't already have that familiarity, though.

That could be it! Except I should've been able to do things like this inside the EGG. I guess maybe I'm having trouble because I never tried when I had the chance before?

You had something like it back home, too? Most people don't seem to...

But that might be it. I know I'd have a harder time imagining it if I hadn't already done it before... but if you sort of understand how it's supposed to work, maybe concentrating on that will help you?

Well, I was the only person that could use the EGG. I'm something they called a Cyber Shaman. I could do things with data that a lot of people couldn't do. I wasn't sure everything was data in other worlds too, but I guess it must be and most other worlds just haven't discovered it yet.

There are some people like that, where I'm from. They're incredibly good at controlling things.

[He wasn't so sure about the 'everything is data' thing, but given how often he found himself wondering if the worlds they visited were virtual, he couldn't completely discount it]

But this is sort of the same, I guess. You're manipulating the network, making it do what you want it to.

I didn't really control things. More like having a picture in my head and putting that in the computer directly without having to manually write the code. I couldn't always stop things once the program started.

You think it might be the same with this, even though it doesn't feel like it?

I think so. When I do it, I don't think about giving something a command to do it, I just... imagine doing it, and it works. So perhaps if you think about it the way you would back home, you'll be able to make it work for you.

I've found it's simply a matter of focusing on processing the visual input, and sharing it as I share my thoughts. But my species is adapted for direct neural interface - this is slightly more complex, but it is only a matter of degree.

Oh wow, so you can hook up to computers and stuff naturally? I thought I was the only one that could do that! ...I don't have the equipment to do that here, though. I wonder if the Interface ability I have from The Grid would work?

No, nothing like that, though it sounds absolutely fascinating.

Asari are capable of linking our central nervous system with that of another sapient organic being. It allows us to share sensory input, even memory, though that can be incredibly draining.

[She sounds faintly embarrassed, for some reason.]

Wait so... You can naturally Interface with other people? That's so cool! All organisms are really just data so it's not unreasonable to think someone out there could but for some reason I never thought about being able to do that without the help of machines. ...What's an Asari?

An asari is-- Wait. I will endeavor to show you.
