I hate to say it, but this isn't a good plan. It won't actually change anything. The people here are just the inhabitants that have been brainwashed by that system. Being cruel to them won't accomplish anything lasting. In order to make a change you'd need to overthrow the people in top position of the Caliphate government and put in people that are willing to fight for a change to the rules against the civilians that are naturally resistant to changed and so brainwashed they think this is what's best for them. Begin changing the laws, punishing those that insist on still following the old ways. Many will try to overthrow the new person just as they did the old. It will help to first enlist the aid of average people willing to rise to arms, to make that harder to do. The ones just brainwashed will often fall to pieces when faced with a new order. I'm not sure this Jaunt will let anyone get as far as the Caliphate though. Even less likely to be able to gather the resources in time.
