Is there anyone who can make edible stuff who'd be willing to help me with something? There's a few things I want to look into making, and I don't want to take the chance of it falling through because I don't have the right ingredients.

[The only person Naoki knows of off the top of his head who can do that is Leo, and he's not an option for... well. Reasons. Besides, he doesn't want to be stuck with one person who ends up infiltrating or on the other side of a jaunt-walkabout divide when he really needs something. As it is, he's going to have to look into somewhere to keep all this crap.]

What sort of things, and what are you planning to offer in return?

I promised someone I'd revisit some of what I had going in Melasurei. If you have use for a sleep aid, you can have a couple when it's done, I'm sure I'll have plenty.

Otherwise, I do have most of Yomi's drinks menu still.

I've never had much trouble sleeping.

[Which is far from true, but there are precious few amongst the Travelers who could attest to that, and the thought of drugging herself into vulnerability doesn't appeal. Today.]

But after the hells we've all walked through, I'm willing to help with the endeavor. You can owe me a drink - if I recall correctly, some of the more arcane concoctions you brewed might come in handy if things take a turn for the incendiary again.

Yeah, they probably would, wouldn't they? I considered just making drinks for everyone after the jaunt ended, but now I don't think I'm going to have that kind of time. Keeping my promise comes first.

It doesn't do anyone any good for half of us to be sleep deprived and plagued with nightmares. Particularly if our dreams decide to take physical form again.

That's happened? Must've been before my time.

By nearly a year, if my sense of time hasn't been entirely destroyed. During a meeting in Liminal Space on my own novitiate Jaunt, the landscape warped to reflect our dreams - small, personal pieces of nightmare made manifest. As far as I know, it hasn't happened since, or if it has, it's been contained enough that those who experienced it could keep it quiet.

Well, that sounds... unpleasant. [All the more so because he has a pretty good idea of what his own would look like.] Hopefully we won't get a repeat performance.

So far, we've never quite had the same problem twice, but there've been enough variations on a theme that I'd be surprised if something similar never comes around again. It's like Carousel Hazard with poison instead of liquor.

'Carousel Hazard'? I mean, the 'poison instead of liquor' part implies a drinking game of some kind, but not one I've heard of before.

A card game, really, and one that might have another name on your world. Pretend I said "drinking shots blind", and you'll get the thrust of the analogy - there's no damn way of knowing what you've got until you've downed it, but there are only so many options, and chances are the same thing will come around again.
