Ah, hello, Randolph Lyall here. Sorry to bother everyone, but someone from my own, er, original home universe has just arrived... and I do believe she requires a bit of an introduction. Lady Alexia Maccon, wife to my former pack leader, Victorian-era aristocracy, and preternatural.

[Because he has sensory livestreaming, he's able to send with this a mental image of Alexia, so hey, maybe this will count for her as an introduction to everyone, for her sense of propriety? It's a thought!]

'Preternatural' means, if she touches you and you have supernatural abilities, it is entirely possible she will negate them. I don't know the extent of that ability with people not of our world, but in our world, shapeshifters, vampires, and ghosts are all affected, so a warning seems... well, prudent.

I am entirely positive she will not take offense if you wish not to take her hand, with this knowledge in mind.

It works through gloves in most cases, but there has to be some form of contact, yes. As soon as contact is removed, the supernatural abilities return full force.

Does she have any resistance to magic directed at her?

I don't know. We don't have magic in the sense you're used to, in my world. Vampires, werewolves, and ghosts are pretty much the extent of it.

And we only have one and a half of those three.

It's too bad Dagna's not here...or maybe not. She'd probably just ask for nail clippings to compare against the nearest templar.

I'm sure if anyone wants to experiment, and Lady Maccon agrees, there are at least a dozen people here who can use magic now... including me, actually. I picked some up a while back.

[He may have to suggest to Alexia that they give it a shot, hmm. If he can find something benign enough....]

I'd suggest starting with some minor enhancement or protective enchantments. That way, if it does get through, it won't do any harm. Offensive spells aren't fun, even if you do have some resistance to them.

The magic I picked up is... not really geared towards enhancement. More towards curses and summonings. I might be better off finding someone else to cast in her general direction.

Yeeeeeah. Curses aren't the best thing to share between friends.

Not so much. Unless it's the one that makes another werewolf, I suppose, but I am entirely certain that one won't take. And I'm not about to try, anyway.

I'd certainly hope not. There's not much room for the rest of us to run if it did take.

Although...would you even be able to tell? If she nullifies shapechanging on touch, she'd probably automatically nullify her own.

In either case, the effect would be the same, so I suppose it depends entirely on whether sensing magic works on her as well. If the curse spell took root at all, as the witch who cast it, I ought to be able to tell.

And for the record, I am also a werewolf, and there is no danger at all to be had from me. There are in fact several of us now, since the Jaunt before this one, where most of us were either vampires or werewolves.

If there's no danger in it, why do you call it a curse?

In this particular case, because that's the kind of spell that creates the condition. A curse-spell.

[And, because he does like people to know, and he's very open about what he is, he adds:]

Technically, if there is a full moon, I may become a danger: werewolves of my type lose our minds on the full moon, and try to hunt anything that comes our way. But liminal space has no time, and certainly no moon, so when that time comes each month, I simply spend that night in here, and then no one is harmed.

Liminal Space doesn't have a moon yet. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we wound up on one of them, one of these days.

I don't actually think that a moon here will affect me. It isn't real. The sunlight in Leonardo's workshop doesn't hurt me, and that's as real as it comes in liminal space, so I'm fairly sure I'm safe.

I wouldn't be so certain. It might not normally affect you, but I would't put it past the Trumps to throw "drives cursed shapeshifters nuts" into the mix if they decide things around here have gotten a little too predictable. It wouldn't be the first uncanny effect they've stuck to some piece of the environment.

... fair point, and now that there are more than just one of us about, it's more of a possibility. If it were just me, I would think it unlikely. It still may be unlikely, but it could be possible.

It does seem more specific than most of the other effects they've done, though. Either they seem to affect random people, or only people in certain areas, or everyone at large.

They've played some pretty specific tricks before. It all depends on the point they're trying to get across, I'd wager.

And if the point was "we can make you kill each other at the drop of a hat" maybe I could see it. I'd just hope they wouldn't want to make that particular point.

Unfortunately, that's one they've gone out of their way to prove before.

No, to be fair, they devoted an entire Jaunt to that one. Though some of the effects of Liminal Space before and after the thing with the pirates came close.

I know any number of cantrips I could cast on her that aren't harmful - and I would definitely be interested in finding out the limits of such an ability.

I'm sure she would enjoy experiments like that, honestly. I'll have a talk with her and maybe we can set something up?
