Freakout Time [Maybe 2 hours into the new liminal]

[Not long after liminal changes over, but with time enough for the psychic network to start quietly bubbling again, a voice is broadcast into the fray: and that voice is loud.

For once, it isn't Jules. Instead, it's a teenage girl's voice, and while emotions and tone don't translate over the network without a little more experience than she's had, it's still pretty obviously as much of a scream as one can make when one is brand new:]

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!

What's happening? I thought-- where is this? Why are you hearing my thoughts? And me hearing yours?

We call it Liminal Space. Think of it like a room between worlds. We wait around here for a few days at a time, then get whisked off to another world for another adventure.

And we're hearing each other's thoughts because the spirits who roped us into this decided things would run a bit more smoothly if they joined all of our minds together. They don't really get people.

[There might be a laugh on the other side, a really bitter one, but he can't actually hear it, so... probably for the best.]

Yeah. I'm guessing that really don't. At least the last stupid spirit-god things that kidnapped me figured out that a network on the computer is way easier to deal with. Geez.

[There's a pause as something clicks.]

Wait, did you say you've been through this before?

I'm from California, mister. Um, in America. On Earth.

[She's gone through this before, after all. Not all people are from the same planet.]

Ryslig is where I got kidnapped to, so, yeah, I've kind of done this before. Except not with the head-voices thing. They turned us into monsters, but they at least kept out of our heads. Ugh.

[She hadn't asked, but he offers all the same - it's polite, and it's a tacit admission that he won't get all her references, might not understand her views.]

That's two now. The last one just stuck everyone in a bubble. When you say they turned you into monsters, what do you mean?

Monsters. You know. Trolls and goblins and werewolves and mermaids. Not the pretty, singing type, the fishy people-eating type. They made me a shadow-thing, we call ourselves shades, since shadow-thing sounds pretty silly.

... It's pretty crappy, honestly. All of it.
