Malik Greatly Disapproves. Yet Again.

[Malik's voice cracks across the network, and he's livid.]

Seeing as it seems that any idiot who whines about it loud enough gets their way, who am I to try to keep morons without a wit of reason from getting their hands on red magic?

You all rely on magic to heal people so why not up your game to using it to kill? You won't even have to train all that hard to use it either! A couple hours and you'll be able to go to to toe with any opponent you meet in any world!

Because that's all you care about, isn't it? How easily you can manage to do something regardless of what the method is. Power is more important than being responsible with it. Who cares so long as you have magic to rely on, right?

Perhaps this isn't the right time for a contest. I still think it would be less irritating for us to kill each other and get it over with than all this sniping and complaining.

Not in Liminal Space. If you and Malik really want to have a goddamn battle to the death, then wait until you're both Investigating and do it on the Jaunt.

Seriously. There's only one hard rule for Travelers and it's Liminal Space is a kill-free zone. We can't let anyone break that rule or we're all fucked.

[personal profile] awitchdidit 2016-09-04 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I may need a refresher on the why of that rule, given how quickly people resurrect when killed on a Jaunt...
thornsofmalkav: (concerned)

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2016-09-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
... Jaunts are different somehow, okay. I don't know why. It's been a rule since before either of us started Traveling. I don't even know if Armin or Joscelin know why anymore. But it was a rule since before Moebius and if it's been a rule that long, it's probably a rule for a reason.

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thorne - the rule is that you do not fight other Travelers. It is a rule we all agree to because it is necessary to be able to live together in a small, enclosed group like we do. We will not abide chaos or the rule of force.

It is not confined to liminal space - although it is true that to my knowledge, nobody has ever died in liminal space, and we do not know if the Trumps could or would resurrect anybody killed in this way.

I...

Hm.

No, that actually sounds like familiar reasoning. This is an island in the Sea of Possibilities, and one we're stuck on with each other. Violence could spiral out of control fairly easily.
neverfeltthatway: (what do you want)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you understand.

[personal profile] awitchdidit 2016-09-04 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen enough death to get blasé, I admit, but I've also seen enough to see how things get out of anyone's control.
neverfeltthatway: (attention)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Armin nods, tersely.]

And if we let things get out of control, it'll be more than our lives that are affected.
thornsofmalkav: (concerned)

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2016-09-04 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
... I was trying to make a compromise?

[She sighs.]

But I stand corrected.
neverfeltthatway: (okay let's do this)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
This is not something we compromise on. Ever.
thornsofmalkav: (sad)

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2016-09-04 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
... sorry.

[She does sound contrite.]

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Armin takes a couple breaths, his expression softening just a little now only she can see him.]

I'm sorry, Jiějiě. But you don't want to see what happens without it. We were close to it, after Moebius. And a compromise means the rule can be bent - and that's not okay, not with this one.

No, no. I deserved that. It's fine. It's just...

Ugh, I'm really pissed at Malik, but I don't want to get into it with him because... well, you can see what an irrational dipshit he's being, right?

Did he really force Eren into an interface because he was flying?
neverfeltthatway: (I will convince them!)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
He just told me that literally nothing I can say will change his mind. So yes.

[His expressions goes grim and angry at the question, though none of the anger is directed at Thorne.]

Yes. He did.
thornsofmalkav: (concerned)

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2016-09-04 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Thorne has an terrible feeling about this.]

... Armin? Exactly how many of Eren's current spells actually, like, directly hurt someone? And not, like, just let him be more effective with his usual combat bullshit? I'm asking because I know Rose magic covers a whole range of mind-affect-y bullshit, some of which is a lot nastier than others and I can't see why Red wouldn't have the same range.
neverfeltthatway: (fashionable headgear)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Directly hurt someone? None of them. [His expression is frustrated and upset and almost defiant.]

He can fly, he can set fire to his blades, he can make himself more dangerous in a close range combat. He only has one that directly affects people at all, and that one only frightens them.

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2016-09-04 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Malik al-Sayf, you son of a bitch.

Oh my fucking god, he's going around telling everyone that Eren is practicing the worst and most heinous spells and Eren isn't doing any of that shit. I'm just. Oh my fucking god. And of course they're his own spells which he isn't even bothering to mention. That shithead.

Where are you guys? Eren must be pretty fucked up by this.
neverfeltthatway: (natural background glow)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-04 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
I tried explaining the difference and he just ignored me.

[Armin's expression grows even darker.] He's also claimed that literally his only other option was ripping Eren's heart out. So why it's Eren and not Malik we're worried about, I couldn't say.

...Mikasa's with Eren. It... I wouldn't be any help calming him down. Not like this, not while he can hear me fighting with Malik on the network.
thornsofmalkav: (wtf)

[personal profile] thornsofmalkav 2016-09-04 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Because Malik is good at portraying himself as a Serious Grown-Up and Eren is just some dumb kid, I guess. God. I get why he's upset--I mean, I saw the shit in his dungeon--but he's being an unreasonable, crazy-ass dick about it and what he did to Eren was just plain wrong.
neverfeltthatway: (fashionable headgear)

[personal profile] neverfeltthatway 2016-09-05 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. It was.

[His expression grows steadily darker and he vanishes to speak somewhere else on the post. When he reappears, his eyes are slightly more sunken, and there are faint tearstains on his cheeks.]

...I can't take it anymore, Jiějiě! Malik's making him out to be some kind of monster.

[He takes a deep, shuddering breath that's half despairing and half furious - but when he looks up again, his voice goes quiet and his eyes are hard.]

I won't let him.
