OTA, Midday After Murderelf Attack

[Drizzt's mental voice is steady but urgent, his message quick and to the point. He also could care less if anyone figures out what prompted him to finally ask about such things.]

I learned of both the ability to heal the mind and of Green Magic, which has spells of healing and nature. I wish to learn both, urgently so. I have only a handful of skills granted through Liminal Space to trade, although I can provide instruction in both close and ranged combat as well as the ways of a ranger.

So to speak, yes, but I have come to realize that no speech is more intimate than that of the mind. I can convey emotion with it in a way that my voice cannot, almost as if projecting a part of myself to the other person. It has helped my father, but it is also not enough.

I need to do more for him, and I am the only one he will trust, save perhaps another that is not here. My father is strong, but he has also been through more than any soul should rightfully bear. I wish to give him some measure of peace now that he is away from the evil that ruled his life, and for a time, my own, before.

It's one of the most intimate forms of communication possible, and deeper connections - those required to share memories, or ease injury or illness - are even more so.

You should know that while it is possible to heal the wounds caused by the horrors another has suffered, this won't change the habits of a lifetime. He will have to unlearn those on his own.

[Drizzt is relieved to hear her words, because she speaks with truth. He's also glad to sense those mental shields go up.]

Which is why only I have a chance at establishing such a connection. He does not like the network, but he has never shied from my mental voice. It brings him a measure of calm.

I know—do I ever know, as his way of seeing the world is so different from those that are not drow, or of my own. But he cannot learn when his mind is still so trapped. You cannot grow crops without preparing the field, so to speak, even if the ground is fertile. That is where my father needs help.
