An Unhappy Announcement. [End of Week 3, start of Week 4]

Everyone, I...I have an update on what was going on with Jules.

[There's a pause, as if she's steeling herself.]

He...he was attacked by someone named Matthew, though Jules thinks that he may have been in the mindset of his counterpart, Masshuu. That person, I presume is the one who was trying to hurt Jules with fire. There was another person who saved him before I could reach the area, but...

[A heavy silence for a few moments.]

Neither survived. I don't know who rescued him but...I am sorry to anyone who might've known either of those two men. Had I been there sooner...

[The implications are left hanging in the silent air on the Network.]

What happened.

I was an overlay myself.

Masshuu came at me with fire and was gonna kill me, and then stabby guy came out of nowhere and tried to tell Masshuu to step down and stabbed Masshuu through the freaking hand, but Masshuu pulled the knife out and tried to slice me with it, and when that didn't work, then there was so much fire, and stabby guy got Masshuu, but Masshuu got stabby guy...

Why did you not fight back against Masshuu as well?

[There's a bit of a pause, time for a mental sigh really.]

After Matthew and Altaïr are safely back I am going to teach you the basics of defending yourself.

It will buy those who can fight more time to come rescue you and likely prevent anyone else from getting killed while you scream your head off.

I don't know if that's a good idea...

Two people died because all you can do is scream when anything happens.

If I can teach you enough to buy the few seconds it takes for people who can actually fight to show up, then there is a better chance that nobody will have to die to defend you.

Then consider your upcoming lessons in self-defense to be academic as well.

You have shown that you have all the common sense of a lemon, and are swiftly making your way in to being the person who screams about wolves every time a dog sneezes.

This is an opportunity to prove that you are capable of more than your behavior up until now has displayed. You are very good at alerting us to dangers, Jules and that is valuable but if we are constantly running to rescue you from every falling leaf that lands on your head we will not have the energy to come when it truly matters.
