I've spoken with Kinji's infiltration -- Teruo. He's lieutenant to the Pulao mermaid leader. And while, as Hajime has said, he can be dangerous, we were able to talk for quite a while, civilly.

He said that the strange Song at night was not something he or any of his group have had any experience with. It is affecting the sirens who hear it much like hypnotism, and he expressed concern to what the long term effect could be, and warned to keep a close eye on any sirens in our group because of it.

I've also arranged for a possible alliance between his school and ours. Do we have someone who's willing to take the role of our group's leader to speak with theirs?

An alliance goes beyond just "you don't hit us, we won't hit you". It's an agreement of mutual support, and breaking one's a pretty good way to make yourself look untrustworthy to everyone.

If we do enter into one, they're going to expect us to be on their side, whatever they're doing here, and so is everyone else.

So we'll need to be sure to be clear in what we're offering, and decide how much to offer before talks.

Do we know of any 3rd parties yet? Or how fast information travels in this world?

Aside from whoever's doing the singing? It sounds like a whole lot of us haven't showed up yet.

I'm hoping we'll find them with Teruo's school. Either on the ship or in the water. If we wound up roughly in the same spot, I would like to think the others did as well.

[It's wearily cynical. Luck has never really been her strong suit, and the fact that her fiance is among the missing doesn't make her any less on edge.]
