I've spoken with Kinji's infiltration -- Teruo. He's lieutenant to the Pulao mermaid leader. And while, as Hajime has said, he can be dangerous, we were able to talk for quite a while, civilly.

He said that the strange Song at night was not something he or any of his group have had any experience with. It is affecting the sirens who hear it much like hypnotism, and he expressed concern to what the long term effect could be, and warned to keep a close eye on any sirens in our group because of it.

I've also arranged for a possible alliance between his school and ours. Do we have someone who's willing to take the role of our group's leader to speak with theirs?

More importantly, do we actually want to ally with them? If there's more than one faction out there, we might be tying our hands.

Even if there are other factions, something to allow for an exchange of information and to assure them that we aren't here to attack them shouldn't tie our hands.

There's nothing wrong with letting them know we're not here for a fight, but if they're asking after an alliance, it's because they want something.

He mentioned someone "dismissing their totem" and then showed me what he meant. He wasn't able to explain how to do it, just said that I would have to relearn how to do it myself.

I would normally volunteer, but I'm worried my previous Infiltration would be recognizable if I drew attention to myself. Any more subtle diplomacy, though, I can help with.

[So Ryo's swum up next to Tachibana as he's hyperfocusing on the network. The little mantis shrimp looks at him for a little bit, and then...hey, there's a crab! He should get Tachibana a snack!

There's a very loud pop nearby.]

Tachibana's eyes snapped open at the pop, concentration utterly shattered. Without even a thought, his hand is where his pockets would be if he had pockets, only the mild confusion of not finding his Buckle pulling him from running on full instinct. He blinked a few times before properly even seeing what was going on.

"...Ryo?"

"That's me!" Ryo swims in a little circle before offering Tachibana the crab again. "Brought lunch! Helping!"

Tachibana could only stare a long moment, trying to calm his adrenaline burst before almost timidly accepting it.

"Hadn't realized you were there."
