Like, you know, this is California. I just figured that out. But there aren't any cities in California called Santa Carlita, that I remember. But it's still California, so some things are the same.

I think maybe it's supposed to be semi-random? That's... kind of what it sounds like they're basing the snatching up criteria on, anyway.

Which is kind of weird. I mean... you could get a lot of really unpleasant people who mess everything up.

... though I guess sometimes we kind of do have that. We mess things up a lot, probably.

Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if they have at times. Though I dunno if it's always semi-random or if it's just an artifact of the last winner being Fortune.

I guess we could ask them. If it's based on who won... can you imagine if Justice had won last time? She'd only pick really strict hero-type people, probably. Then what would we do if we needed a diplomat or a sneaky person?

Eh, maybe. Justice doesn't just mean literally justice. It also means logic and clear thinking and stuff like that. Diplomats come under that. So do scientists.

Okay. But not sneaky people.

[She pauses, then adds,]

But I get your point. I mean, I wouldn't want to do a lot of stuff that required sneaky people, anyway. I'm not very good at sneaky. But then, I'm one of Justice's marks, so. Probably not surprising.

... uh. I don't know how to break this to you, Jolie, but I've read the archives and according to Beatrice you have Bernkastel as your fellowed Justice marked. She's as sneaky as hell--she just also fits a lot of the other qualifications.

... okay, I guess I just don't get this whole why-people-get-marked thing at all. Or maybe I just don't understand the Arcana bit at all. Because that makes zero sense to me.

It probably comes from the logic, rationality, dispassion et cetera part of Justice, I'm guessing. I've been reading up on the Tarot in the last year and they're actually pretty multifaceted. I mean, considering you and Drizzt, Justice probably does have a preference for hero types, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't want to grab a couple people who fit other parts of her archetype.

I think the point of saying stuff like that is that we'd rather not be going through it at all and feel bad that now you have to, too, not that we'd rather go through it alone.
