Ah, well. I guess this is how to make this thing work. Odd, but useful.

In any case, my name is Naoya. I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to introduce myself, but there you are. I'm guessing that there won't be a lot of time on these 'Jaunts' for the meet and greet - not if we're intended to go solve some problem or another.

I do have some questions, however. First of all, is there a spare computer or a way to acquire one on one of these Jaunts? I deal with computers as part of my work, so it's a little strange not having them around. Secondly, is there anywhere I can plug in an electronic device? And possibly find some spare cords I can rewire... I'm not exactly counting on the voltage to be the same.

... And thirdly, does anyone have access to a dark room or possibly some ice that is not ice cream? This place is already giving me a headache, and I suspect it's only going to get worse.

Well... I can explain that part, but it's a little gross.

Within the past week at home I have seen no fewer than ten people literally explode. I think I can handle gross.

[Even with a headache, he still manages an impressive lineface.]

Everything in Liminal Space is instantaneously assembled from mimetic goo.

[He just stares for a moment, one eye half closed against the pain, before snorting.]

So it's just a matter of figuring out how to pull the energy and matter together, then. That makes sense.

[For once, he's not being sarcastic.]

That's right, Any substance you can envision and understand clearly enough, you can create.

So, I can make food and deep fryers, but I can't make computers.

And I majored in computer programming, so I understand those fairly well. I'll have to look into that.

There are people I can introduce you to - Thorne and Jules and Claudia and Lyall-sensei - who you can work with on that kind of thing.

For the meantime... is there anything you need in your room right now? There's a bed, and a modern bathroom, and a little furniture... but nothing to make it personal.

It's fine. I don't care about it being personal. All that really matters is that it's a room with a bed and a light that I can control.

[Modern comforts are great, okay. It's enough for him until he gets down to work.]

It's still nice if there's a housewarming gift. A robot to put on your shelf, or something like that.

[He pauses, and then chuckles.]

... Dango.

[Dango is great okay.]

[Souji confirms, and holds out his hand to let Liminal Space swirl around it, forming a platter with five dango skewers of various types arranged in a radial starburst. Each little ball has a face imprinted on it with a slightly different expression.]

[... That's kind of cute. Naoya grins and takes the platter.]

Thank you. ... I have something of a sweet tooth.

Mm.

I think the two of us will probably get along.

Oh? Well, that's possible. Too early to tell now, though.

[He's grinning. ... He is also aware he is not the easiest to get along with, though he does tend to try to play nice when he has to.]
