Dragons and Bonds

Hey, it's Jean. Now that things are starting to calm down a bit, I think a small check in is due?

How many of us have bonded with dragons? It's likely getting closer to when we're gonna return to Liminal so just in case, you should be preparing to say goodbye. It's not guaranteed that the dragons will follow us, after all. Not everyone's Pogemon did.

Even if they do return with us, I wonder if they'll disappear from here.

hahaha I know a few people like that. Hey, you're lucky you're getting proper capitalization and punctuation. A year ago that might have been pretty dubious from me. My school friends and I used to hold conversations entirely in emoji. ....try not to send eggplant emoji (the long purple thing) to any modern people. Just. Word of advice.

There are a surprising number of emoji for food. And if this thing would let me imagine pictures at you, I could show you, but. It won't, so you're saved. If it helps, we did usually type things out instead. We just could [Oh good, he's using emphasis now.] do an entire conversation in emoji if we wanted to. It was usually little stupid stuff.

I guess John was too serious to even look at the picture emojis too much. I should be grateful to him for that, at least.

[He was the only one who used phone texting in any way... Other jaunt for something that modern was Pogtopia, but Jean didn't bother with the phones there.]

I don't remember if there were dragons, but there were a lot of different animals, too. It could be fun. Ah well. I'll just have to be on the look out for a cell phone next time we're in a 1990s+ time frame. Especially 2000s+. At least I could take pictures.

I'm sure we'll eventually end up in a more modern world again. If not, there might be someone who's able to make something similar.

You'd need the right software on it to make it do the right things, but that would be nice to have for me, anyway. Something to remind me of home I guess. Not that it's really likely to be useful - at least not in liminal space. There wouldn't be any cell towers to bounce the signal off of. Uh, that is, they wouldn't be able to send information back and forth without some additional technology, so their primary function would be useless.

I'd be lying if I said that made sense. I barely know what a cell phone is, but not much on how it works.

...Heh. Sorry Jean. Got carried away. When I get one I can talk you through it if you want, but really you're probably just going to need to know how to send text and how to call people. Maybe cameras.

Seriously, though, call me on that next time. I don't have it figured out yet what people know and what they don't.

It's fine. I don't mind. Technology might not be my thing, but well, you never know when small bits of information may come useful.

It's not a big deal. Been a while since I thought about things like cell phones and text messages. There isn't much call for them out in space, let alone while Traveling. Funny; it's the little things you remember.

Sometimes remembering those little things is important. Not that there's much that I like to remember on, other than my friends and family, but they're not exactly little things.

Not even things like... I don't know. Sunlight on trees. The smell of wet pavement after it rains. Standing in the open air with a good breeze in your face. Somebody's laughter down the hall?

It's probably bad, but I really want to be able to show Hoshiko some things that I know she's never seen before. Grass as far as the eye can see. Trees in full leaf. A stream running over stones, or heck, a lake! I like a good desert as well as the next person, but there's more to life than that.

Hmm... well, I do miss the mornings in military training where we would wake up and predict weather over someone's weird sleeping poses. And just... hanging out with the others before and after training. All of us still alive and around, cursing the instructor on how harsh he was and planning on what to do when we graduated... not knowing what future had in plan for us.

[He stops there, because it would just get depressing from there. It already had in his mind and he's glad text carries now emotions. Instead he has a very worried dragonet curled up on his lap, trying to give him happier telempathic messages.]

I really hope you'll be able to do that. If nothing else, we'll make a room in liminal that can change how it looks like. A lake, a forest, the mountains...

You can make rooms to look like natural areas?

[That might be a good idea. Efficient therapy bb dragon Marco may be, but human support is always better.]

Yeah. Drizzt made an announcement in Liminal that his room is a forest space. I wouldn't be surprise if someone has made a lake or such to have a peace of mind.

Huh! Well that's pretty awesome. They wouldn't know what to do with all that water. I wonder if dragons can swim.

I don't see why they wouldn't know how. Or at least why they wouldn't be able to learn. Hummers might not, considering their electricity...

I would guess they'd be better at diving, with those wings of theirs. So long as they don't discharge in the water they should be okay.

Yeah. Maybe we'll have a chance to see what happens at some point. Liminal itself seems to provide good places to swim occasionally. I wouldn't know how to if it wasn't for those.

Really? Not much in the way of bodies of water in the walls?

Well, no, we do have places to swim. I just never got around to do that.

Mm. Fair enough. It's a good skill to have. You never know when you're going to need it.
