Well. Yakumo's come to terms with the Travellers being a strange and unpredictable bunch. At least here, now, he's ready to talk about something much more reasonable:]

How many people here have studied Colour Magic? [definitely a more normal topic. Somewhat awkward, a little abrupt - as if he's only just had it pointed out come to the realization that he can ask other people what they did.] And which Colour did you decide on?

I chose Blue Magic. Both because I knew I had a reliable teacher and because I felt it fit me the best.

There's a distinct sense of something coming from Kinji, but it's a hodge-podge mix of relief, exasperation and fondness.]

[That's a small bit of pride leaking through the psychic connection. Blue is Yakumo's image colour, and things assigned to it tend to be good.

But he tamps the pride off quickly, shaking it off. Bias shouldn't get in the way of choosing a path of magic to study.]

Y'gotta be real certain of what sort a' magic y'dedicate yer life to, this is a right serious undertakin' that far too many people take far too lightly.

Dedicating yourself to a path of magic that's ill-fitting is a mistake that too many people make. It isn't as if you can take back the energy you put into it, or un-learn it. Choosing the wrong branch of magic could set someone back years in their magical education.

I like to think so. Even if most I've been doing with it has been flying and enduring elements recently. I'm glad I haven't needed to use it in actual fights.

I've started trying to pick up Indigo magic? Not sure if it's sticking just yet, though, no teacher.

Would you still choose it again now? If you had the option to leave Blue behind, and pursue a different path?

Indigo...? Why not any of the others?

Cos I'm good enough at fighting without Red, my original jam is fear so Yellow, Green and Rose are all right out, I'm good friends with two other people learning Blue so that's just unnecessary [not to mention it's sorrow, much more Jules's domain than his] and the whole concept of royalty and vanity are like directly in conflict to what I am, so no Violet.

Indigo's sick. Magic about magic, yo. Getting all meta and learning about what magical things are.

Green here. Had to study the first bit of it on my own, wasn't the same as these days. Heh.
But ... I guess, especially back then, I liked the idea of somethin' tied to 'hope', and the nature side of things was pretty interestin' too.

I'm a Rose Mage? Actually, I'm the only Rose Mage around with Sera out of ambit. I picked it because I liked its key concepts--love, vitality, sensation, optimism, all those good things--and at the time I really wanted more of them in my life.

Plus, I just like the color as a color.

I would. Looking at the other colors, I don't think any of them would suit me.

Did you already have an affinity for animals prior to learning the magic? [because, you know. every time he sees you there seems to be an animal involved.] Or was it something that you grew used to afterwards?

Not that I'm aware of. [He's saying that very carefully. He'd eyeball you if he could.] Is there something about them that hasn't been recorded with these books?

Though I guess that would make more sense if you got Blue Magic...

I'm not the least bit surprised. [given you know. EVERYTHING. It explains why she's so fixated on his love life--] I feel like I'll regret this, but... the way that the colours interact indicates that they're all of equal standing, however Rose seems to be the least objectively useful in any general situation. It seems like a spell set that would only provide aid in very specific scenarios.

[The way his mental voice lilts towards the end there indicates that it's something of a question. Yakumo's thoughts on Thorne are... rocky, especially given that she probably has an entire phone filled with photos from the last Jaunt -- but Rose has been confusing him for a while now and well. This is the only Rose Mage. He doesn't really have any options here.]
