Corgipocalypse [Early Week 3]

So I had one of those dreams again. The ones that feel different from normal, the really important dreams? For the newbies, I started picking this up after Harrogate and it's not just 'you ate too much cheese before bed' or something like that.

Anyway. I was in a garden - it was a pretty nice garden? - and holding an embroidered handkerchief. There were a lot of corgis around. They were very fluffy and happy. The Queen was on the radio, giving a speech from the new Prime Minister, who was cancelling elections for the next thirty years.

... So here's my take on on this. First up I think Phillip is somehow involved - he's infiltrating right now but he has a whole thing with corgis. Second of all... didn't this Dark Lord supposedly try to impersonate the Prime Minister?

I think we might have an attempt at that happening again. No idea about the handkerchief, though.

I SPOKE TO PHILLIP THE FIRST WEEK AND HE SAID HIS SISTER ACCIDENTALLY SET THE PRIME MINSTER ON FIRE AND THAT IS WHAT REVEALED THEM TO BE A FAKE.

ALSO THAT HE, HIS FRIEND AND HIS SISTER ARE ALWAYS GETTING INTO TROUBLE.

DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT WAS EMBROIDERED ON THE HANDKERCHIEF?

Uh... it was just a British flag. And somehow I'm not surprised... did he say who his sister was? I have no idea which overlays are related to each other...

NO HE DID NOT. ....MAYBE THAT IS SOMETHING WE SHOULD CREATE A LIST OF IF WE GET THE CHANCE.

.....IS THAT A COMMON THING? PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE SOMEONE ELSE ON A JAUNT, BELIEVING THEY ARE RELATED TO ANOTHER PERSON WHO BELIEVES THEY ARE SOMEONE ELSE?

And yeah, it happens. I haven't had it happen to me yet, but I've only infiltrated twice.

DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR MEMORIES OF THE TIME YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE SOMEONE ELSE WHEN YOU GO BACK TO NORMAL?

Yep. It can make things awkward if you thought you were family with another traveler.

.....YES I SUPPOSE THAT WOULD BE RATHER AWKWARD. THIS IS MY FIRST JAUNT SO I HAVE NOT HAD THE EXPERIENCE YET. I ALREADY HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF MEMORIES, I WONDER WHAT IT WILL BE LIKE.

I do not necessarily think that this has anything to do with it, but my friend Naoki is the champion from the Japanese school, and he usually has an embroidered handkerchief that belonged to his sister. It could be connected, it could be nothing.

Also, corgis, I believe, are a symbol of the British Queen in my world. She likes them quite a lot.

Does his handkerchief have the British flag on it? Other than that, it's not the same one.

... And yeah, I know they're one of her symbol in my world, too. But I know Phillip can make like a hundred corgis appear out of nowhere when he's himself, so...

So that Dark Lord might try to kill the Prime Minister this time instead of just trying to impersonate them.

Also, I don't know if that is related, but the disembodied howling in Liminal says "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." [Which the Dark Lord pretty surely is.

Since he figures that most travellers won't be able to interpret howling, he feels like he should provide that.]

Possibly. Or he's impersonating them again, and has convinced the Queen. I have no idea.

[There's a few long moments where Casper just starts laughing. Holy shit, this Jaunt is going to kill him from being too nerded out.]

Probably not. Liminal keeps making references to those books I told you about... that's a phrase that comes up a bunch in the third book. If that pattern's holding I have a good idea what to expect next week.

What would you expect?

[As long as it's not a storm of socks again...]

... A big arena with a dragon or something dragon-like, an underwater area, or a maze. Possibly all three.

Alternatively a graveyard with creepy figures, but I'm hoping Liminal doesn't go that far...

[None of those sound particularly bad to him, but who knows what the details might be.

Still, there is something that he can say to actually reassure Casper:] If it is too bad, some of us can change Liminal now.

...is that even how elections work in Britain? I know it's different from Japan but I think Prime Ministers in general don't...oh, whatever, that's not the important part.

Do you think this Dark Lord thing is connected to the Tournament, though? I mean, if he's meddling in politics, and we're meant to stop him, why are we doing the world's biggest culture festival?

... he's probably here already. Either in disguise or invisible. And before you say anything, I know that's really complicated and hard magic, but I figure that a Dark Lord is probably powerful enough to do that kind of stuff.

I mean, I dunno if he's here because of some evil plot or just because his disguise has to be here for one reason or another... but it makes a lot of sense to me if we're here to expose him somehow.

A disguise seems more likely than invisible...it's hard to "perform" if no one can see you, but acting is one of the oldest art forms in existence. I guess he could be invisible, though, at least some of the time. The spell might need to be built into a piece of clothing, or something? My Overlay sucks at perpetual art so she's not sure.

I don't really get them either.

I don't know. I don't think so. I think their party might elect them? I have no idea.

Also, probably. For one, I don't know if it'd be happening and we'd be here if there was no connection. For another... if you're trying to make a country unstable, spreading fear and suspicion among the more elite of other countries is probably not a bad way to go.
