I'm getting the feeling we were at least partly anticipated here. Can we get a run-down of which colors mean what and whether or not people expecting us is a good thing here? It was much clearer in Questing Country.

Stone here, and I've got white glow lines on my clothes, so I guess that means Variable. I don't know what any of this shit is, and Azure is something everyone is calling a bit and not happy about it.

What are we supposed to be doing? This Rejuvinator thing is a lot more cramped than I'd like.

A bit's a little piece of information that can really only speak in Yes and No, if it's anything like the one's I'm familiar with. People won't expect you to be familiar with what's going on, from the sound of it, if you're in Variable colors, so you should be able to gather information pretty easily. From what I've gathered, though, we're all on a mission to explore and revive an old System.

Yeah, I figured that out. About bits, I mean. They can also glow red when they're angry and make a lot of beeping noises. I figured that out, too.

There are some gliders around here somewhere - but I maybe would tell people if you're going to go shifting, or you might get mistaken for some kind of enemy. Most Programs don't have that kind of capability.

Hmm. So you don't think they'll pitch a fit if I tell them I'm a shapeshifter?

If you mention it's something your User gave you, maybe to help explore? That would probably help. I can't say for sure how they'll react - I wasn't here last time - but the Users are kind of like their gods. They're the humans using the computer, but from a Program's perspective it's the all-powerful being who can rewrite the landscape and edit code on a whim. So, you know. Gods. But being a Variable, they're going to be more okay with you doing weird things than if you were another color, probably.

I thought the User things were the Arcana.

That wouldn't surprise me. But the Arcana aren't native to this place, I don't think. At least they weren't in the movie I saw that's similar. But even if they are, that still works for this. If your User - your Arcana - made sure you could use that transformation by keeping you in this form... And it will definitely help you explore.

It will. I can fly faster and longer than most Raksura, I could cover a lot of ground. And kill anything dangerous, probably.

Well, we'll see. I have to make sure I can even still do it here, and there's not room on this boat thing.

There might be a way to get up onto the dorsal hull, if you wanted to test it before we get there. People would want to see the change, though, so you'd probably have an audience crammed into the command deck.

[Sometimes Stone enjoys an audience, if there's someone in the crowd he feels like impressing, or when he needs to intimidate. THat wouldn't be the case, there.]

Think I'll wait until we get where we're going. I'd rather not be stared at if it doesn't work.
