[Jaunt] Apologies for the comm-spamming

This is Anafiel Delaunay, lately of the Walkabout. I was told of the plague of Trojans here by Naoki and so I have come to lend my aid in whatever way I might. I have also brought Sakuya Tachibana, a healer of no mean skill, in hopes that he might be able to treat the computer disease.

If anyone can tell us how we might help, please do. I am not a healer myself, but I have spent some time as a soldier in my youth. I am willing to follow instruction.

Greetings, Program. I am going by the alias MIR-CL here.

I would normally directly upload the information you'd require to blend in, but we have just received word that is terribly imprudent.

Instead, I will give you and yours a dossier at your convenience. Do you know what, precisely, a Trojan is, ser de Montreve?

Hooray for comm-spamming, I say

Delaunay! And you've brought Tachibana? [Oh! It's two of her favorite people, all of a sudden!]

You've both come at an interesting time! Where are you right now?

Avoid touching people. That's how it spreads, through communications interface.

[Matt's mental voice is a bit snarky, very tired, and appearing on the network for the first time in a long while.]

It's a reference to an ancient war, where a brilliant asshole built a big wooden horse and stuck his entire army inside. The opposing side brought it into their walled city without thinking. When it got to be night... the people in the horse got out and took over the city.

So, yeah. It's a reference to that.

Matt, I need to talk to you.

What's up?

[Please don't ask to meet up, Pidge. He won't put you in danger too.]

[She wants to. She wants to meet him so badly. But in the current situation she knows it's not wise.]

I'm going to be very blunt with you and tell you straight, okay? I - we - think you might have been infected by the virus already.

You can't heal a computer virus with normal healing. It's data, a code, that is invading the system. That kind of thing can only be dealt by those who know how to code against it.

"Virus" is unfortunately metaphorical, but Tachibana also has literally divine powers from assuming the mantle of Apollo when we Jaunted to a world, Achaea, much like the legends of your Illium. The chances that his abilities will help are far from zero, given Apollo's domain.

It is possible for us to directly share memories over the Network, a trick I think it would be useful to teach you if you do not already know. Would you care for me to send you what I have gathered of the Program's social mores and society, and of the situation?
tookashirototheknee: (deduction)

[personal profile] tookashirototheknee 2018-05-30 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, whoops! Sorry. I'm never sure what universes have what. Didn't mean to insult you or anything.

[He's just an awkward space turtle at the best of times.]

Huh. Well, a computer virus is somewhat different than an actual virus, but here, where programs are people, that's not a bad thought, actually.

Oh, is that all? Yeah, I kinda figured, the first time I went to sleep and woke up somewhere else. I've been walking ever since. Two steps forward and one step back. I'm trying to avoid whatever pull has a hold of me while I don't know what I'm doing.

Just... don't tell Shiro? I don't want him to worry about me.

[That would explain why she hadn't been able to find him at all. Of course he had figured it out.]

Shiro already knows and he... He was also infected.
verdeleonessa: (I won't give up)

[personal profile] verdeleonessa 2018-05-30 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose he can try, but I'll continue working with codes in case it doesn't work at all.

Claudia should be in Liminal. You should talk to her if you need more information before proceeding to the Jaunt itself.
tookashirototheknee: (wide eyed)

[personal profile] tookashirototheknee 2018-05-30 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Shit.

[Matt's voice cracks just a bit.]

Where is he right now? Maybe I can help.

[Another pause.]

Pidge, please be careful, ok? I don't want you getting hurt. That's... really most of why I'm going the other way. Ugh, I wish I could be with you both right now, but this... it's for the best.
tookashirototheknee: (why do you have a cow?)

[personal profile] tookashirototheknee 2018-05-30 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, as far as I can tell, Programs here are pure energy with a sort of consciousness attached to them. They're mostly independent, sentient beings, but some of them are extremely beholden to commands.

Oh, I'm definitely made of flesh. Most species I've encountered so far in my world are. There are a couple rock-based species, and some sentient planets.

[personal profile] verdeleonessa 2018-05-30 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
He volunteered himself to stay in Liminal Space so that Claudia and Jules can look at the grey modes code.

[What that implies is something she leaves for Matt to figure out. With Shiro volunteering and staying there.]

I know. I will be careful. I've been trying to help with finding a cure mostly and... well, to be honest, I tried to find you. I miss you.

Very well. I will count three and send on zero. Three, two, one...

(She sends those memories.

The salutation of "Greetings, Program!" and descriptions she's heard of the known Factions - military Defenders, scholarly Miners, secretive and religious Cryptos, solicitous and friendly but fiery Revolutionaries, and the lost of the Automata.

The impositions of Priority.

MATH-U's confusion at her statement that Variables - Travellers - find Purpose rather than being hardcoded with it.

What she knows of the mission to restore a system, a land, presumed lost - each sector named for a twelfth of the sky.

And SARA's Priority One override explaining everything the Defenders and Travellers currently know about the Trojans and what countermeasures they're taking to stop the infection from spreading.)

If you've any further questions, let me know.

Ahahahah - with cause, you can requisition weapons and vehicles from the local commissary. And we have been given most ample cause.

I think you will like the weapons here. They have sword hilts that, with a touch, burst into a blade of pure energy. They're downright nostalgic.
