The highlight of his career as an Oracle

So, as I promised Sara I talked to a resident Liminal Horse, thanks to being an Oracle and all. Well.

[It's easier if he just shares a memory.]

Anyone have any clue what this was about? I mean, I could try talking to other horses, too, but I doubt I'd get anything useful from them.

And yes, that's me.

Well, Alcuin's already covered the actual song the horse was quoting. It was a major set piece in a movie that's close to my heart.

Not love, entertainingly enough. Improving lives and helping family with a little help from time travel.

...Shit. Time travel.

HA!

I KNEW time shenanigans were coming! And if ANYONE would call a mulligan it's Fool.

Between Questing Country and the liminal shenanigans right before it, I'm going with 'not a coincidence.' I guess the question is, how far back and what do they want out of it...

Did you catch my explanation of literally getting warned about time travel during the liminal Christmas Carol?
claudiometer: arms crossed, wearing sunglasses (future's so bright I gotta wear shades)

Don't recall, but all things considered I can't say I'm surprised.

The short version was "Time is a spiral, the past can change the future, warn the Arcana."

Private, Psi Protection II:
I did change the past in Questing Country by helping Allura's rebellion, did you know? Fool lost cause I didn't change it nearly enough for the better.

Oh yeah, didn't what's-his-ass get pissy about the Very Idea? I mean, my world's iteration of time travel is 'because you made the attempt you've already done all you can,' so I wasn't thrilled about the idea myself but there's no stopping a group of Travelers who are gonna Do A Thing.

[She leaves her thoughts on a Fool-founded universe out of this, since it doesn't matter.]

If they're desperate enough to throw us all at time travel whether we like it or not, then I hope for their sake and ours it's not Helena's variety.
otomechapilot: (:disgust)

u know it

[personal profile] otomechapilot 2018-07-01 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, I'm two for two on Colonels that don't need to know what the grunts are up to.

[Not that Claudia would know who the first one is.]

The arcana wouldn't bother otherwise. Heck, I bet Fortune would be real happy to see them take a chance on time travel, if she were still around.

...Great. As if that Liminal thing and the Retrograde weren't bad enough.

[He only made it through the Ouroboros Retrograde without a headache because he had enough distractions at the time to stop him from thinking about it too hard. But it does make him think of something else.]

I just realized! That Liminal thing didn't end up happening!

[personal profile] bite_the_hand 2018-07-01 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That thing when Liminal Space was showing everyone our futures! Or... possible futures, I guess? I saw myself as ERR-N fighting a group of Trojans, but that battle didn't happen!
claudiometer: shifty face is shifty (>_>)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2018-07-02 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. Well, predicting the future isn't really an exact science. Maybe it would've happened if we hadn't gotten our act together on the patch as quickly as we did?
bite_the_hand: (Less Grumpy Neutral)

[personal profile] bite_the_hand 2018-07-26 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe... Or if we hadn't figured out who the Trojans really were, or we hadn't figured out how to bring them back from that. From what I saw, I think I would've been able to retreat. I chose to stay and fight instead. Neither me or ERR-N would've made that choice if we knew what'd happened and thought there was a real chance of undoing it.

[He had ended up derezzing a few Trojans in a different fight, but only when he thought they were as lost as the people of his world who had been transformed into Titans. Even then, it had taken seeing a few of his fellow Revolutionaries being dragged away to push him into using lethal force.]
claudiometer: looking at a list (on my to-do list)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2018-07-26 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
If we had't figured out how to bring them back... mercy killing probably would've been the best way to go. I'm just glad it didn't come to making that choice.
bite_the_hand: (Tell me your secrets!)

[personal profile] bite_the_hand 2018-07-26 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
So am I. It's bad enough we already had to make that choice back at the Walls.

But because that vision didn't happen, doesn't that mean the future can still be changed? So even if a situation looks hopeless, nothing's been determined yet. All that stuff about fate and destiny is a load of crap. We still have the power to change things, as long as we have the will to fight!
