of bridging and field trips
Some of you might remember that a little more than a year ago, Lupa - a Traveler who's no longer with us, to head off the twenty identical questions - organized a number of us who were skilled with portals in an attempt to return to a previous Jaunt world. An attempt that was ultimately unsuccessful, to our great disappointment.
It turns out it is possible to return to the worlds we've previously visited, simply much more difficult than any of us had imagined at the time. Between our return from Purgatory and our departure to Albion, a small group of us made the trip to Belljar Island - three of us who'd been there before, and one who hadn't. We've not yet determined if someone capable of creating the portal can target a world they've not personally visited, but it is at least possible to bring along a passenger who's never set foot on that world.
I wouldn't recommend making the attempt if you're not reasonably confident of your ability to bridge the gap between Jaunt and Walkabout by both portal and telepathy, or of making your first attempt without someone on hand who you know can pull it off if you can't. If we're lucky, the failure state will be no effect at all, but that's a dangerous assumption to make.
On that note, I'm intending a short trip before our next Jaunt, to arrange for some supplies that can only be found on worlds that have reached what Earthly Travelers call the 21st Century. If you have something you need and are capable of not standing out like a walking inferno, I can accommodate a several passengers.

[Because fuck Doki Doki no Gakuen and everything it chose to be.]

I wouldn't mind seeing Sarmatia again, if you end up with any free slots.
[Having been on the initial expedition, though, he's leery of crowding out someone else who might want to go.]

All right.
...We should probably make sure to avoid the swans at the very least.

[Yes, that is the part that interests her right now, not the trip itself.]

[She feels like she probably shouldn't be surprised.]
Although given the number of repeat Jaunts we have, that does make a certain amount of sense - it's probably easier than reestablishing a connection every time.

[Which makes her wonder if they all have direct connections to these worlds or if they're just connected through Liminal Space. The latter seems like it'd be more efficient.]

I'd be willing to come along. If nothing else, I want to see if Joker's still around and con him into another terrible fashion show if he is. But, like, if there's enough people going, you can totally boot me from the list.

Earthly 21st century native here, if you need one. Or like, another one, since you've got Thorne, but I think I'm a couple years ahead of her on our timeline.

Regardless, having someone else along who's familiar with the technology and enough cultural mores to pass credibly as tourists from another country and not from the nearest madhouse would be useful.

Depending on where we end up, I might get some looks, but I get those anyway.

The nation we've visited before is Sarmatia, in Eastern Europe. I don't know how well their history matches yours, but the urban areas were making an attempt at drawing in tourists and foreign business when last we visited.

...unless they can see through magical illusions, then they might have a problem with me, but. That'll be a them thing.
That sounds about right for Eastern Europe, at least.

It's like the thousand-and-one Inabas, except with spoopy supernatural people and not Personas.
