of bridging and field trips

Some of you might remember that a little more than a year ago, Lupa - a Traveler who's no longer with us, to head off the twenty identical questions - organized a number of us who were skilled with portals in an attempt to return to a previous Jaunt world. An attempt that was ultimately unsuccessful, to our great disappointment.

It turns out it is possible to return to the worlds we've previously visited, simply much more difficult than any of us had imagined at the time. Between our return from Purgatory and our departure to Albion, a small group of us made the trip to Belljar Island - three of us who'd been there before, and one who hadn't. We've not yet determined if someone capable of creating the portal can target a world they've not personally visited, but it is at least possible to bring along a passenger who's never set foot on that world.

I wouldn't recommend making the attempt if you're not reasonably confident of your ability to bridge the gap between Jaunt and Walkabout by both portal and telepathy, or of making your first attempt without someone on hand who you know can pull it off if you can't. If we're lucky, the failure state will be no effect at all, but that's a dangerous assumption to make.

On that note, I'm intending a short trip before our next Jaunt, to arrange for some supplies that can only be found on worlds that have reached what Earthly Travelers call the 21st Century. If you have something you need and are capable of not standing out like a walking inferno, I can accommodate a several passengers.

[/mentally raises hand]

Earthly 21st century native here, if you need one. Or like, another one, since you've got Thorne, but I think I'm a couple years ahead of her on our timeline.

I wanna say adjacent universes? Same broad strokes overall except hers is vampires. We have a lot of the same world history, so we feel good about comparing specific years.

Depending on where we end up, I might get some looks, but I get those anyway.

Vampires aren't a problem.

...unless they can see through magical illusions, then they might have a problem with me, but. That'll be a them thing.

That sounds about right for Eastern Europe, at least.

Only when we're Malkavians! And also, only when we're not using alternate forms to not be a vampire, obviously.

[Which Thorne is most of the time, if only her human one, because she likes being able to eat food that isn't blood and relax her vigilance against the slavering monster within.]

So yeah. None of the Sarmatian vampires should be a problem.

They could probably smell me, but unless fair folk exist there too probably they'll just think I'm a weird-ass werewolf tourist. Or I could spend some time transformed before we go and just smell like dog.

We have werewolves in Liminal Space, did any of them catch it from there?

Well, that's gonna be interesting then. Shouldn't really be an issue, since I can portal my way out and hold my own if I can't. 's'not like I'm gonna actively look for shit to start, anyway.
capital_asset: (...Why.)

not here

Probably adjacent, yeah. Although my world did have fairy bullshit in it--I got some really great dice at a Goblin Market once--so there's a chance that it was the same world, but there's an equal chance it was Melissa's or Malin's? Or whichever one of ours Laughs' was from. Or yet another in the same world cluster.

It's like the thousand-and-one Inabas, except with spoopy supernatural people and not Personas.

Jules and I found out we're straight up from the same world, though, some of the bullshit he did before he got Taken actually made the news.
