about half a day into the Jaunt

Holy shit, you guys. For whatever reason, David Texxant is back.

[She'll just livestream her encounter with Dusty Houston for everybody.]

I'd say somebody needs to warn Yakumo, but he's my boss this Jaunt.
helborn: (okay well maybe not)

I mean the clients were the families, and we also had to work with the local government for paperwork, order supplies from wholesalers, try to beat off the big chain funeral home companies with a metaphorical stick...
helborn: (you're kind of cute)

[personal profile] helborn 2019-09-22 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
... Do you think that's still going to matter to this version of him?

Just one Jaunt I want him to be Texan and Kinji to be British. It'd be great.

If there's not, I bet we could make it. Or... you could, I'm not so good at psychic skills.
helborn: (i'm at a fancy party pretending i'm cool)

Yeah... I keep meaning to work on psychic skills and then just... not.
helborn: (even in monochrome land i'll defeat you)

I also don't like how invasive some of them are? I have some invasive mental powers at home but it makes me kind of uncomfortable.
helborn: (i'm not an anime protag i swear)

[personal profile] helborn 2019-09-26 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
... That's a really good way of looking at that.
helborn: (why would you do that?)

[personal profile] helborn 2019-09-29 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
I mean... yeah, I kind of understand that feeling. Not the same, but similar.

Self-control's never really a bad thing to practice.

There's a back door around it now. Back doors around brain hackery are cool.

You know how to make the network ping you if someone's trying to pry? Builds off that.

Considering I de-infiltrated myself back in Dystopian Mishmash Hell and I still can't read anybody's mind, there must be. About damn time, too.

If Naoto ever comes back I'm gonna tell her she should feel good about unlocking this for us.

Even if she'd never actually use it herself, the fact that the back door springs from her being pissed off about the brain hackery... I love it.

I think I do... I don't know if it works, though. I don't think anyone's ever tried.

I'd call that good overall, really. Means people are behaving themselves.

Anyway, you can use the same ping system to see that a private conversation is there without actually being able to break into it. Or as a 'hey, someone's activated a network skill' ping, even if it's not a skill that's coming for your privacy.

Makes sense. I'm - the idea of barging in on a private conversation is kind of awkward for me, but it's good to know when things are happening?

No, I feel you, dude. Regular hackery is one thing, but brain hackery's something else entirely.
