Eren stands, and motions for Kanji to follow. He glances down for a moment at the question, frowning. "...Not anymore. Not in the kind of numbers this place was designed for, anyway."
From the lobby Eren leads him through one of the sets of doors into a short hallway, and from there through another door that takes them into the set of rooms that are specifically Eren's. This section's on a smaller scale, the size of a nice apartment, and seems to be an odd mix between old and modern. The front room is another sitting area, much cozier than the lobby they were in a moment ago. There's a couch with a small coffee table in front of it, and a plush reclining chair near a (currently unlit) fireplace. a little further in is a round wooden table with chairs placed around it, near what seems to be a small kitchenette area. It's noticeably warmer here than it was in the lobby, and the entire place is immaculately clean.
"You can sit wherever. Do you want anything? There's plenty to eat and drink in here, and if you want anything specific I might be able to make it."
"... Yeah. Yeah, I know that feelin'," Kanji replies to Eren's first answer. As much as Aiya might still get visitors, there are certainly enough people who aren't there. He looks around once they get into Eren's rooms and gives an appreciative nod before he pulls up a chair. "I'm cool. Unless you're doin' somethin' anyway...?"
"Not really. I don't cook, I make food out of Liminal stuff. Which is better for everyone involved, trust me." He grins a bit before turning to pull the pieces of a small tea set out of one of the cabinets. Now that he's further inside, Kanji will be able to see that there's not much in the "kitchen" to actually cook with. A moment later Eren carries the tea over to the table on a small tray, then takes a seat and pours himself a cup. It's a simple but high quality black tea, and there's another cup and saucer on the tray if Kanji would like some.
"This is about the plan to steal the game, right? About how it feels like betraying one of the only ones that's always tried to help us and treat us with respect?" Eren takes a sip of his tea, giving Kanji a knowing look over the cup. It's something Eren struggled with himself, so he expects others that have a good relationship with their patrons to be having the same issue.
He takes a long sip himself before he starts. "Right," he says, slowly. "Thinkin' about that stuff, especially with it being all proud of stuff all around Liminal... screwed with my head. Sounds like you get it."
"Yeah... We had a truce, me and it. I'd help it win, and it would arrange things so I could save my world from the Titans and then keep Traveling - Traveling in a way that gives the Travelers more freedom. And if the Travelers were forced to turn against each other, or were put through another Moebius, I'd stop helping it. All this time, it's done the best it could keep its end of the bargain. The only times its come close to breaking it were because the rules of the stupid game forced it to, and I could tell it was as unhappy about the situation as I was. Of course I felt like a traitor.
"That's why I told Fortune about that concern when she showed to encourage us, since I know it considers her a close friend. And she said that it won't be upset with us in the slightest for going through with stealing the game."
Good. Good. Kanji releases a bit of tension that he'd been holding in since he headed into Eren's space and gives a heavy nod. "She told ya that? Good. I think she musta talked with it at some point... I heard from it later that it. Yeah. Knows that we're plannin' something. Uh, general us."
He scratches his head. "The way it sounded to me... Sure, it'd wanna win. But if we can give it a really good competition, then it's still gonna be happy. Long as we're still goin' all out, yeah?"
"So it does know at least a little? Good. I forgot to ask about that part." He takes another drink of his tea, looking thoughtful.
"Yeah, that sounds right. Besides, it said control is part of its 'idiom'. By taking control of our own lives, we're still doing exactly what it wants to see happen. Think about it. A lot of what we want is what it was going to give us anyway, but we're taking it in a way that the other Arcana can't take back. This game is moving in one big circle, while we're moving forward!"
Eren grins, eyes bright. There's something vaguely unsettling about the expression, about the intensity of it, but that's how Eren always is when when he's talking about reaching for freedom.
"Hell yeah!" Kanji gives a grin and a fistpump in Eren's direction. It's not like he hasn't gotten plenty scary regarding his own pet topics in the past... "We work this right, we give it what it wants and what the rest of us need. What we're doin', we're doin' in its idiom, just ... not the way it was thinking."
That's what he's holding onto, anyway.
"I don't wanna stab a friend in the back. But ... maybe we ain't gotta."
Action forever
