claudiometer: pulling on neutralizer gloves (we retrieve dangerous objects)

Okay, guys, I'm trying to catch up but you got network-happy, there's kind of A Lot. And we should probably have it in once central place anyway.

What do we know about Jauntzilla? How the entire fuck are we supposed to fight these things? Hypatia's more worried about getting her expedition on the road while there's still people to go on it, but she'd prefer to have a home to come back to. I'm de-infiltrating myself when we get back, that's for damn sure.

[And later, after it comes up that Nation-Eaters are vulnerable to electricity:]

Right. So we've all agreed the time for subtlety is over. Who wants a Tesla? I'll make as many as I can when the party's not on. Free lightning you don't have to call on liminal bullshit to produce.

How do your magic circles work? Can other people lend their magic to make them more powerful?

That's the idea.

They're computational sorcery foci. Pure mathematical constructs designed to describe and manifest a physics inequality between multiple probabilistic dimensions; in terms that don't make people's head hurt, it summons something from another world that manifests as, in this case, an electrical discharge.

Additional power fed into it will help because more buck equals more bang. But the circle needs to be precise, making it better as a landmine triggered by stepping on it than as a frontline weapon.

Good to know. So if we can delay and channel the nation eater in a particular direction... how long would it take you to set up?
eldritchwheelies: (hypothetically if I were a shinigami)

Honestly the act of charging it up liminally would be a powerful lure.

Could take hours, could take minutes, depending on how many hands I've got. If Chara - that is, Thorne - could direct the old cult to it that would easily make it a matter of a 15 minutes, tops.

That's true - though we probably don't want to rely solely on that, in a city with so much going on, psionically speaking. Especially in all the chaos.

...Fifteen minutes is a long time, fighting a creature like that.

Not if we're dropped off in a different Vale.

That... doesn't seem likely to me? We don't know anything about the other Vales - all the remaining population, as far as we know, live in this one.

Spires. I meant spires. I am a sooper genius that gets things at the correct order of magnitude, which is probably why I infiltrated as a Magnator.

Oh! Yeah. Being in a different Spire could definitely help. [He sighs.] We'll just have to see, I guess. And hope your computational electricity is enough to take it out, when it comes down to it.

It won't be. Or really we can't count on it.

I want the compsci glyphic mine and the tesla cannons and the parapsychic bullshit and Allura going Full Aurigan on the Nation Eater.

I hope it works; I hope it works more than once.

No, of course we can't count on it. But it would be nice - I'm worried that fighting it at all with psychic or psionic power will only attract more of them.

But then, the same is true of the mine, I suppose, if we're liminally powering it.
eldritchwheelies: (hell effin yes)

...It occurs to me that dropping off the Travelers between spires and the innocents within them might prevent a lot of collateral damage.

If it's possible, that would be great - but I overheard Magician saying something about anchors, so I'm not sure if they can drop us between spires. We should definitely suggest it, however - the further between that thing and civilians when we fight it, the better.

[He pauses, then amends his statement.] ...The further between me and civilians when we fight it, the better. A titan's not good in a city, if you want to avoid casualties. Even more true for the Colossal.
