[Is it possibly for a mental voice to sound giddy? Because there's a distinct giddy tinge to By's thoughts, for all that his words come out with his normal, lazy, lightly Russian-accented drawl.]
Byerly Vorrutyer here. We're on Earth, pre-spaceflight, although someone who isn't me will need to get a better read on the actual date and location. Linguistically, it's a hodgepodge. I can hear archaic Russian, a whole host of Asiatic and Romance languages, and something else I can't quite place.
If you can "hear" this, check in. We need to know who we've got to work with.

[He sounds frustrated if that's even possible as a voice in someones head]

It is. But we're stuck playing this game, so we'll have to do our best to work with what we've got.

I've had more than my fill of games at this point. Especially those that aren't winnable.
no subject
And it's not unwinnable. We just haven't figured out how we're going to win the Jaunt yet--which isn't surprising, as we haven't been here long.

See I took that to mean the whole pinball hell and this place and well whatever came before or comes after was a game to these Trumps. I have friends that have been doing this a long time now. It seems like an unwinnable game from where I'm standing.

Are you looking to sit this one out too?
[He can only hope that's all they're doing.]

[There's that feeling of a sigh again]
As much as I would want to, actually working to figure it out seems like the fastest way to getting my friends that infiltrated back to normal.
In which case I still don't have much beyond the fashion I'm wearing has not been standard fair in a real long time. Anyone find a calendar yet?

I don't know how you're going to do it, but count yourself lucky you don't have eleven-hundred years to overcome.
... unless you do?
[No. Probably not. Nobody seems to be from his point in time yet.]
no subject
More like a hundred and fifteen, but that's still a lot.
Wait eleven hundred years? Dude, you live in outer space or something too?
no subject
But that's only the last year. Prior to that I lived on a planet, just not this one.

The thing about Jackson's Whole is that there are no laws whatsoever. Everything's legal, including things that any sane planet would outlaw. So the planet itself attracts a lot of unsavory people. The people I live with--my girlfriend's family--are about as nice as people get on the Whole and they're still utterly ruthless.

Um so I'll just uh...I'm not sure what to say I guess to that.

As far as I know, this is about as much preparation as we ever get, considering it's an anomaly that Daneel-san's got something to do in this world and knows who he is. I ended up on the other side of things the last two in a row, but I can't imagine Purgatory or a literal dream world were any easier to get the hang of for everyone investigating.

Aw, c'mon Naoki-kun; don't terrorize the new kid before things even get started.
Hanamura-kun, right? Don't overthink these things at first; just act natural. Most of the random populace just ignore us unless we're doing something really stupid.

I kid, but this is kind of overwhelming. Go a little easier on him.
