[Is it possibly for a mental voice to sound giddy? Because there's a distinct giddy tinge to By's thoughts, for all that his words come out with his normal, lazy, lightly Russian-accented drawl.]
Byerly Vorrutyer here. We're on Earth, pre-spaceflight, although someone who isn't me will need to get a better read on the actual date and location. Linguistically, it's a hodgepodge. I can hear archaic Russian, a whole host of Asiatic and Romance languages, and something else I can't quite place.
If you can "hear" this, check in. We need to know who we've got to work with.

[Yeah, he's... used to being not-himself.]
Arabic is used mostly, and it is... 1896 by the christian calendar. Which you lot seem to use more. If anyone needs help with... cultural differences dealing with the Caliphate I am familiar with their beliefs and values, if a bit old fashioned.
I will have more information about the political climate and who's who in a day or so at most.

It seems to be approximately my original era, with some very different political and social climate.
If I can get to a bookstore, I might be able to be more precise.

[If Istas sounds like anything, she sounds faintly puzzled. She'd ignored the odd mental voices she'd heard before, but now there was a voice she knew appearing in her head]

[Can you sound completely and utterly 500% done in your mental voice? Because this is Adachi right now.]
Seems like there's some big old Japanese convention going down. I had the pleasure of running into a princess from it.
None of you are going to believe who it is.

Excellent. We'll need as much information about this world as possible, so if you don't mind sharing...

I mean, obviously it's disconcerting that you seem to be both at once, but if it comes with the same knowledge, you might come in very handy, Daneel.

But...are we really on Earth? I've never seen anything like all of this.

[Immediately sidetracked to a minor issue, but then he snaps back on task.]
No, nevermind that. Okay! So we're working on a list of who of us knows who we really are, and I hope somebody is writing this down because I'm pretty sure I won't be able to keep track in my head. Adachi brought up somebody we know thinks they're somebody else, and that's a good thing to keep track of too. Everybody can hear me, right? Anybody got other confirmed--what's the word--infiltrators?
Uh. Any advice on how the hell we're supposed to fit in here would be good. I think I avoided some suspicion by pretending to be afraid of heights and a tourist but I stick out like a sore thumb.

[And then there's the other people he's looking out for - Levi, Lupa, Lyall (how is it they all start with L?) - but Dojima-san probably hasn't met them yet. Better, in that case, to give him the short list of faces he might recognise. he can keep his own counsel from there.]
I don't know if anyone does usually keep a written list - last time I was myself for one of these things I was a little busy helping Naoto run a revolution to bother. Whoever checks in this way is who we've got.
As for blending in... the Grid was also different when it came to that. Daneel-san at least had a good rundown of the main powers in play here, so we have that to work with. Otherwise I'm just trying to keep an ear out and see what I can find out that way. [Not... that it's much other than a lack of proper alchemy so far.]

I mean uhm. This is Sera! I think this is one of those other versions of Earth where everything goes weird.
