I'm trying to give them a taste of what it's like to be controlled by someone else. Maybe they'll think twice, next time.

It's more likely that they'll crack down all the harder. People in power are rarely known for their self reflection.

If you want to embarass them in a way that has a chance to provoke change, you'd be better off turning up political corruption or scandal. Reputations can survive widespread clothing theft. Being caught taking bribes or breaking your own laws is far more damaging.
