I apologise for disturbing anyone but, I was wondering if someone could direct me to the 'Illuminant' spellbooks? I've heard of them and, if possible, I'd like to take the time to read and hopefully learn some spells myself... Especially before we're thrust into the next Jaunt.

... Even more trouble is that I feel I might need someone to help me. I ah... am unfamiliar with this kind of magic, and am no mage.

Ah, is that so? Would you be adverse to my borrowing it to study...? I understand these 'color spells' in theory but I feel I need to actually read up on the subject fully. I feel a bit blind in the field.

Umm... what color are you interested in studying? I might be able to help you figure it out, if there's not somebody better suited.

I don't actually know... How many colours are there, and what abilities do each generally favor?

There are eight colors of magic: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and rose. Red spells tend toward fire and passion and blood and anger - the Red Illuminant was known the the Illuminant of War. Orange has to do with taste and scent and mirth and adventure, with danger and activity and things that are generally strange or unconventional. Yellow is light and happiness and wealth, but also jealousy and betrayal. Green involves healing and nature and life and youth, as well as hope and envy. Blue magic can give control over water and air and lighting, the storm and the cold, and sorrow as well. Purple magic deals with illusions, mostly, but also nobility, vanity, and ambiguity. Indigo is the magic of knowledge and intuition and wisdom, of balance and of loyalty. And rose magic governs love and relationships, life and optimism and compulsion.

It's important to know that you can only ever learn one color of magic - once you begin to study one, a block forms in you that prevents any other color of magic from flowing.

Leonardo knows orange magic, Alcuin knows yellow, and Ambrose uses purple. If you want one of those, they can probably help you. Kanji and Phillip and Sera have been learning as well, but I don't know if they've chosen a color yet. Blue magic is my domain. And I learned Blue magic without a teacher, so if you want one of the colors nobody knows, I can probably help you. Not with the magic itself, but with the process, in figuring out what works, and how to learn.

[Obviously he's not worried. He's one of those who's really good at transmitting tone over the network, and that is not a worried tone in the slightest. Amused, maybe, and admittedly curious, but not worried.]

Only if you piss me off at the wrong time. There's no guarantee I'll be able to learn it anyway, or have that kind of finesse to use it outside of combat.

How long have you been practicing it for? That seems to be quite a variety.
