Or to get one of his friends' attention when they weren't in normal hearing range of each other. Like right now, for instance. Really this probably should have been private but considering Eren's only been around for a few days at this point he has no idea that's even a thing. Then again even if he did he probably still wouldn't have used it. He kind of forgot that everyone could hear this. Sorry, Armin.]

Ahaha...it's the holiday where humans pay homage to witches, ghosts, and evil spirits, of course! It's generally meant to appease us for the next year.

It started off as a prelude to an honoring of saints and dearly departed loved ones, but it's kind of taken on a life of its own.

I don't know what any of those are. I get remembering and honoring people that are gone, but how's a bunch of faces carved on vegetables supposed to do that?

It depends who you ask, really! Either they're places for evil spirits to be bound to, or they're meant to scare us off, so we don't interrupt the proper mourning process the next day.

Effectiveness varies, obviously. You're better off learning your magic circles and warding rituals.
