Hey. I figured someone should do a check-in? I've been listening to people talk and we're in a place named Samartia. Dunno where that is besides Eastern Europe. I'll find a map later.

Anyway, we're in vampire and werewolf territory. They think you guys are something called corvigers? Uh, those are people who work for the supernaturals. We called them ghouls back home.

And there's this election thing going on. It's like their first time? I'm passing myself off as an elections observer. So's Melissa. If people want, they can pretend to be our human staff. Just let us know.

Thorne! It's just Thorne, usually, but I'm going around calling myself Ms. Thorne in my capacity as election observer. And, like, Melissa's calling herself Ms. Lyre. That's her last name.

Never been in a world of vampires and werewolves before. And they keep talking about a dead leader...is this a funeral? They're dressed too flashy for it.

That explains a lot. But why are people discussing politics at a wake, though? I don't get it.

Because the guy who died was a prince. They're trying to figure out who's gonna be the next prince.

But it's a wake. That kind of talk doesn't belong in this kind of party. They should be talking more about the prince that past, right? Like, stories and such.

They probably should. But... vampires, at least back home, are fairly political creatures. Probably couldn't restrain themselves.

Good thing I don't plan on becoming a vampire anytime soon.

So...the guy who's gonna be my boss seems to be running for an election. Baadur's his name. Nice guy, good ideas, leads a werewolf pack.

Oh, good! I'm glad someone's working for one of the candidates. I talked to him. He seems like a nice guy.

He is, and he's got the right kind of equality mindset, too.

Yeah! I mean, we probably shouldn't pick sides right away, but I'd be good with him winning.

[lunchleader]

And even if he didn't win, I think I could live with that vampire lady being the leader, too.

...is there anyone else running the race?

Guy named Bagrat. It turns out he's Xigbar, Infiltrating. He's a bit shifty usually, so I dunno what that says about him as a candidate when he's not himself.

Xigbar...that name rings a bell, but I can't place it.

Ah, well. So, we're here because this election's pretty important, then?

Probably, yeah! It's their first one too.

Xigbar used to have an eyepatch, then he had a cyborg eye, but I think he's back to the patch now here.

Makes sense. Let's try and help this election go okay, then.
