[A couple days into Liminal Space, but before it changes, Naoki puts out a message. He sounds... tired, but satisfied.]
I've worked out something that will counteract the radiation exposure most of us just got. There's some in the workshop and some in Kanji's place - there should be enough for everyone who was on Gehenna.
Please, guys, take a bottle. I don't care how invincible you think you are, I don't care how much you might think I hate you, I don't care how bad you think it tastes - I did the best I could, but it's still pretty clearly medicine. Radiation is serious business, and none of us deserve to be stuck with the long-term effects if there's a way around it. If it turns out you absolutely cannot get it down for some reason, let me know and I'll try another version.

[And she does show up maybe half an hour later, looking around with interest. She hasn't been by Kanji's yet.]

Naoki's claimed a spot along the counter for himself, and some space next to it for a collection of bottles.] I had a feeling you'd be especially interested, but... frankly, none of us asked for that. We shouldn't be stuck with the long-term consequences if there's a way around them.

[Because there's food at the place next to where he's sitting, and food that looks pretty tasty at that, Zoe comes to sit beside him.]
Might as well have somethin' to take it with, if it's as bad-tastin' as you're implying.

Just watch out for the Hecatite food. I think Kanji labeled it all, but who knows if someone moved something.

[She pulls the plate over that looks like it has a burger and fries on it. She's only seen a burger on Jaunts, but it looks absolutely delightful, so she picks it up for a bite.
After chewing a minute, she adds,]
Heard you and Leonardo's little spat. Or part of it. I figured you went private when he got all pitiful on you.

[Naoki's quiet while Zoe grabs her food, and sighs when she mentions the 'spat.' If such a mild word really applies to what it turned into.] He got it in his head that I hate him. And I don't - don't like him much, that's for sure, but hating him would be a waste of energy I can use on more constructive things, and even if I did I wouldn't wish radiation poisoning on him. And on top of that, I... really don't like it when people try to avoid things for the sake of my convenience. It usually only ends up being inconvenient, and I got way too much of that at home.
If he wanted to not get in my way, all he had to do was not... say anything about it. I would've noticed there were leftovers eventually, but it would've been next to impossible to figure out who ditched it. I hadn't even gone to any extra trouble in the first place.

He's the sort who wants to make it known he's helpin' you, so maybe you'll feel more kindly inclined towards him. Bit of a brown-noser, maybe, but not a bad sort. He's more touchy than he lets on.
[Her tone isn't judgmental. She may be bonded to Leonardo, but that doesn't always mean she approves of his decisions or understands him all that much.]
Did he wind up takin' any, in the end? I can collect a bottle for him and stay and watch him until he drinks it, you know.
[Because she will totally do that, and guilt trip him into drinking it. For the baby's sake, if nothing else.]

He means well, I'll give him that. And I care about a lot of people who care about him. It only makes it more frustrating that he's doing this to himself, but the general situation is going to take people closer to him to get him in gear. I should know, I've been that stuck.
I think he did take one, yeah, but... more in tones of complete surrender about it, which isn't what I was going for.

[She has another bite of her burger, makes a satisfied sound around it, then once she's swallowed, adds,]
He do seem mighty enthusiastic about the little one, though, so maybe that'll help snap him out of whatever rut he's in. He'll hafta take an active role if he wants involved in her life, after all.

[Naoki snorts.] Yeah, it's kinda difficult for a baby to start much of the action. If it doesn't work completely, it might help. Though... at this rate, you're due in the middle of the next thing, aren't you? It's been a good while since you mentioned it. Hopefully it won't be somewhere as ridiculous as the last one.

[She has another bite, putting a hand on the bump that keeps her from coming as close to the counter as she'd like.]
Soon, though. I keep hopin' she'll be early, though birthin' in liminal space sounds about as unpredictable as doin' it on a Jaunt... just hope this trend of stayin' myself holds.

[What's going to happen with a kid who's effectively born surrounded by the psychic network, anyway? Or the vagaries of Liminal Space?]

[But Zoe thinks she's ready, honestly. She has briefly considered the effects of a child in liminal space, but she hasn't at all considered whether she would be on the psychic network.
There may be some surprises in her future.]
Won't even have to worry about makin' enough milk myself, since I 'spect I can just... make more the easy way.
[She gestures at the food she's eating-- has almost demolished, in fact-- as what she means by the "east way".]
