School is in session

We've been generously offered some space to use for school purposes. I think the value of education has become clear in attempts to analyze this particular message from the Trumps.

ANd if that's not enough incentive on its own, the space also offers respite from the effects of this particular Liminal Space. The door is in the Library of Mr Da Vinci's workshop and I can place a charm should anyone need further guidance.

[oh damnit]

So... this is actually happening? [but. but why]

[uuuuuugh]

...What kind of stuff are you going to be teaching? [and how closely will you pay attention to him not paying attention?]

I've got some Eliot. Both poems they're referencing and Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. And, uh, I'm still the English teacher, right?

So. Right. I'm going to be everyone's English teacher for this project because it is literally the only job my B.A. in English qualifies me for. Don't do what I did, kids. Listen to your dad when he tells you to become a computer programmer.

I'll be going over the two poems that the Trumps are whole liminal referencing and then I'll toss in his cat poems just for fun. Phillip, you might want to pay attention to those. They're the ones that got set to music for Cats.

[...oh. he actually perks up a little bit at that. He does like Shakespeare.]

...That seems interesting.

Anyone interested in the sciences, that's my area. Biology mainly, and health of a human and maybe werewolf perspective-- I know I'm no longer the only one-- but I'm going to be mashing in as much chemistry and physics as I can recall. I don't see a reason to separate it out, when there's only one of me.

[And, frankly, not that many likely to show up, he's sure.]

School??

[Guess who's also not happy to hear that]

Define the curriculum.

[Unlike some of the younger set, River is not offended at the notion of Liminal school.

No, River's suspicious. The efforts of the current environment to make people paranoid have worked all too well on her, and the last time she enrolled in an unusual program...

Well, let's just say "it wasn't fun" is the understatement of the millennium.]

I may only have just arrived, but an endeavor like this is most certainly one I can assist with. Coming out of retirement like this might be good for me--I taught physics at the collegiate level for years.
darkhourdear: (Teen!Phillip [Really?])

[personal profile] darkhourdear 2016-06-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [hmmm. damnit this school thing might actually be ok.]

I can offer help, if you'd like, ma'am; but I dunno if I'd have the patience for teaching. [He doesn't. Ask any of his poor beleaguered interns from back in the day.]
flumine: (slump)

Which applications?

[She's momentarily intrigued - but only momentarily.]

Other resources are also era specific. Science, literature, history. They're living organisms, growing and shifting and building.
aimedhigh: (he will never be satisfied)

[personal profile] aimedhigh 2016-06-30 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Uhhh. Law, primarily, though economics, writing, and probably military tactics too, if that ever ends up being necessary.

[A brief pause:] I'm aware, ma'am, but I've been told by reliable sources that I tended to overwork my interns at home. [And himself, really, but she doesn't need to know that.]

Maybe we could work somethin' out that doesn't involve actual classes an' me giving out work.
