aimedhigh: (what's the state of our nation?)

rubbish lion who can't deal with things yay

[Well, at least there's one person on the network who isn't yelling. Far from it, actually, though he's always in the mood for a fight. But today, Hamilton's mental voice is a little woozy. Tired-sounding, really, and certainly it's not because he hasn't been sleeping the past few days. That would be completely ridiculous.

It's rare that he asks for help. But this month, he might need a little, if only as distraction.]

Okay, folks. Book recommendations, if you got any that I can read around here. Or if there're any about wherever y'all are from. Or, hell, I dunno, I'd appreciate a loan of a quill and some paper. I gotta do something, and there ain't a treasury to mind or a newspaper to run here.

You'd think, but she had to deal with stupid publishers. As she puts it, her brother supplied the mustache.

[Not everyone has those resources, unfortunately.]

These days she mostly laughs about it.

I work with her back home, and she only just re-emerged during the last jaunt after being gone for a while.

Claudia Donovan. Good to meetcha.

Guess we'll have to hope you're not infiltrating if we ever need to talk people into adopting a new system of government, huh? [It's her way of saying she knows damn well who he is without falling all over herself - which isn't likely after much time in the Warehouse even when you don't work with HG Wells.]

[She's pretty sure the Warehouse has something of his, actually. Other than the pistols from the duel; that's just the obvious one.]

Apparently the thing with the vampires and werewolves was more about getting those guys through their first democratic election in one piece than... the vampires and werewolves. You never know.

No kidding. I was... on the side of the split currently contributing to other fiascos, though, so I don't know much about what went down there other than pretty much no one on either side had a very good time.

I... was kind of leading the Investigators that time, for lack of anyone better to do it. Also, as Actual Vampires, albeit a Weird American Vampires, me and Melissa got more respect from the locals.

It started out pretty good, until the last night of the Town Hall Meeting event where the locals could ask the candidates their opinions on various issues and one of the candidate's servants asked another candidate if he was circumcised.

... the servant guy ended up dead on his employer's doorstep the next morning.

Supernatural politics are cutthroat.

Well, Bagrat--the guy who got asked about his dick--was a mobster when he wasn't a prince candidate.

What, were they running Vampire Donald Trump or something?

[Now there's a scary thought.]

... basically, yeah.

Yeah. That kind of launched a bit of infighting between the various factions. Hajime in his groovy seventies werewolf Infiltration almost got killed. And then Istas killed his wardrobe, to add insult to injury.

Yeah. You guys did a good job. It's a little patchy sometimes and we've suffered though some wretched presidents and congresses as well as good ones, but it's survived two hundred years and that ain't bad.
