[Two days into Fridge Liminal]

Sorry to bother everyone, but I'm having a bit of a problem. Some of you may know I picked up a somewhat awkward but sometimes useful ability in the city of Melasurei-- I occasionally get flashes of the future in brief, context-less visions. And right now that ability won't leave me alone.

It's the same thing every time: standing on one side of a glass wall, with several others on the other side, unable to reach us-- there are hands pressed to it on either side, but it's impermeable.

I have never actually seen anything metaphorical before, it's always an exact representation of something that may happen. So... I'm wondering if anyone's seen a glass wall around here? Or run into one, I suppose, seeing as it may be a bit hard to see. And if we haven't... perhaps we'd best keep an eye out for one.

And before anyone asks, no, it's not the shelves in the giant refrigerator. I know what those look like.

...Does a lot of the modern English language have its origins in things like this?

[Because that would explain a lot. Thorne, for example.]

Some of it. Slang and metaphor, certainly. English is really a big mish-mash of other languages, anyway, to be honest, so picking up popular references is only in the same vein.

Doesn't that get... kind of unwieldy? It seems like a poor system to base your communication on, if someone who doesn't get the reference won't understand what you're talking about. It seems like it would cause a lot of confusion and miscommunication. [And English being a conglomerate of other languages seems to be the same problem, only... larger.]

It can, sometimes, but we get by. Humanity is very creative, and very adaptable. And really, not everyone uses the slang to the same level, and a lot of times we only use it in certain settings and with certain people. Not everyone is Thorne, when it comes to communication.

Sorry, I tend to go a bit overboard when people ask me questions like that. I'm used to Gale, who lets me ramble about everything and anything.

...Did you get any sense for who was on either side of the barrier? Or how the groups were divided?

I only got what I saw, there aren't really impressions, for the most part. I've seen a handful of people on either side, but only that. Hajime and Naoki were on the other side, Gale and the Colonel were on my side.
