[There's a very abrupt pause in his words before he continues with a faster, much more panicked speed.]

Help, I think she's about to- I think she's...

[It's lmost like there are no breaks between words or sentences - that's how fast he thinks right now.]

[ Let's not talk about his messed up love life right now even if this probably is a lot about that. ]

Also you still didn't tell me your location but I might just come find you myself.

[The messages are becoming a lot shorter and slower. Like he's falling asleep.]

... Where are you going? What does that even mean? Are you okay?

[ ... oh, that l word. ]

Even anyone who is blind could see that.

[The word 'you' does never reach Korra. There's only silence at his end.]

. . . Jean? [ not like she's not already looking for him, she'll just start rushing around even faster after that. ] Hey, you. Get back here!

[There's no response. It's almost like there's no link to Jean at all for a while.

Then, suddenly he's back with a rush of new panic.]

Oh no. No. No way. This can't be true. I'm not.

[ great, she's panicking and almost coming up with some Avatar stuff to find her, whatever that would be with her limitless powers.

and then there's the worlds' most giant wave of relief when he is suddenly back. ]

Hey, you're still here! [Except he doesn't sound like she even wants to ask 'are you okay' ] ...What's wrong?

Jean!

[Naoto's mental voice is very panicked.]

Where are you? What's going on? I'll be there as soon as I can.

She's infiltrating and- oh lord she's catching up so fast. Where can I go what can I do.

[For a fraction of a second Eren's relieved and elated to hear that Mikasa has finally been found. She's Infiltrated or something else strange, but she has not vanished from Liminal Space, she's still here. But then the distress in Jean's voice registers, shortly followed by the rest of what he says. Instantly Eren's joy crashes into despair. As he launches into a flurry of questions, there's a frantic edge to his voice.]

Jean! Where are you!? Who does Mikasa think she is right now!? What's she doing!? What's happening!?"

Sarmatia. She's hungry and likely thinks I'm- AAA!

[At first, Eren is expecting Jean to tell him Mikasa had returned to the girl from the Bando peninsula. The girl who had been hopelessly in love with Eren's own overlay, to the point of giving up everything to remain with him. And the girl who had just stood by and watched coldly as Jean had burned to death while Ren accused him of being a spy and an assassin. Why else would Jean run from her? Or sound like Mikasa was trying to fight with him?]

[But then Jean gives an unexpected answer that makes Eren's blood run cold. Sarmatia. The world of vampires and werewolves. It had been Eren's first Jaunt and Infiltration; the Jaunt that had taught him how wrong all of his assumptions about Traveling were. He'd been a Balteus himself, knows exactly how bad it is that the vampire now chasing his friend is hungry... and how little chance he has of being able to do anything to stop what's about to happen. But dammit, he has to try! It's pretty obvious the vampire would mistake Jean for Jerome, which means Mikasa is about to do to Jean what Eren had done to Armin a year before and no, no, he doesn't want either of them to have to go through that! He can't let this happen!]

Where are you!? [He screams the words, voice edged with a fear-induced frenzy.]

[Jean tries to use sensory livestream to show Eren the place they're in. The view mostly includes Mikasa's red eyes and a tall building behind her, rain pouring down on them both.

The image fades quickly, as if energy is running low, which is very true.]

He... lp.

[bite_the_hand]

Hold on! I'm on my way!

[There's the sound of sprinting footsteps the moment Eren sees the building - and sees how out of control Mikasa already is. There's no way she'd be able to stop herself from draining Jean dry. After that... Eren's not sure whether it would be worse or better for Jean to wake back up later. What happens when you die in Liminal Space? Being a vampire is better than being permanently dead, but what if you come back just like on Jaunts?]

[Eren shouts a word the Network does not translate, and the sound of hurried footsteps gives way to the sound of beating wings and rushing wind as Jean starts to fade out.]

Jean! Jean, stay awake! Focus on me! Dammit! Come on you horse-faced jerk! Don't you dare give up on me now!

Scre...

[Being already drained out if his vitality is making it hard enough for hin to stay aware if things but losing as much blood as he is makes it impossible.

It's not long after the mental messages fail to completely reach him as he's gone.]

[bite_the_hand]

[Eren keeps trying to reach him, even though it's clearly pointless by now. So Jean will wake back up to... Well Eren's freaking out bad enough at this point that his thinking isn't the most coherent. His thoughts are basically just repeating the wordless equivalent of 'fuck' over and over again.]

[Then he suddenly realizes the connection is going through again and he snaps back to sending a more articulate message.]

Jean! Are you alright!? What happened!? Please don't tell me...!?

[rustyhonesty]

[There's a long moment of silence... but once Jean does resume the mental conversation, his thoughts are a mess and very panicked.]

Oh crap. Oh crap. No. No no no no no no. No. I can't-- is this permanent now?! No, I can't, I don't want to-

[bite_the_hand]

[Then he's failed to protect a friend... again. Eren knew the chances of him being on time to stop this were slim. He still won't be any easier on himself later. But that is later. Right now, Jean needs him to stay calm. So he focuses on making his mental "tone" as calm and certain as he can.]

Jean. Calm down. We'll figure this out, but I need you to keep a clear head. If what the Chariot told me is true, you should be able to change back even though this happened in Liminal Space. Just don't try it yet! I don't know how this Mikasa would react but it probably wouldn't be good. Hold on, I've got the building in sight so I'll be there soon.

[Eren's voice and words definitely help him calm down from the worst panic and he takes a few deep breathes.]
