Now that I can have everyone's attention, a little good news.

Since Jules and I both needed the occasional break from the Bronze Age, I'm proud to announce Liminal Intranet is now up and running. Even I'm not good enough to hook it up to proper Internet, as that would involve punching dimensional holes that are probably beyond our reach, but it should at least be a boon to Project Infopool.

Servers are in my rooms, so they won't be going anywhere even if I do. You'll have to provide your own computers, though.

Just lookit this shit. Like normally I'd be totally down this sort of assetry but when it's all you got for like three fuckin years with the same people, most of which were primitive as fuck reptiles douchebags, I kinda wanted to tear off my own damn wings and shove them up my birdhole.

Reptiles? Who apparently played a Ghostbusters MMO? Your life must have been very, er, interesting before you got here.

Okay, buckle up for this bullshit.

Long story short my friends and I played a game that destroyed our universe so we hijacked a meteor and a golden boat and barreled three years through paradox space to jailbreak into a new universe so we can finish the session there. My ex is got space powers so she shrank our game planets to about the size of tennis balls, including all the tribal reptile that lived there. Sometimes she'd invite some to come play Ghostbusters with us and it was fucking stupid.

I mean it was fun maybe the first time but it got painful real quick.

That... actually is even more strange than what happened where I'm from, I have to say. Congratulations. I'm sorry about your universe, though, that must have been....

[He isn't even sure what word to put there. He settles on:]

To be honest it's kind of hard to have feelings for. It's too big. It's like this unfathomable amount of fuck awful that no amount of emotions can affect without some level of mind raping insanity to follow.

That makes sense. I'm still sorry. No one should have to experience something like that. I suppose, then, that this whole game we're in now isn't entirely new to you.

Not really. Got perspectives on shit people don't really wanna hear about but whatever.

I would like to. Hear it, I mean, if you don't mind sharing. If you want to make it private, or come speak to me in person, I would understand, of course.

[Lyall may or may not know about the conversation that caused the "people don't want to hear it" comment, but either way he'd rather have the conversation for himself, too, and having a receptive audience will probably change what's said and how he says it, too.]

Last time I got shoved into a game like this shit went sideways after like a day. This one's taking it's sweet time.

Can you tell me about it? Your last game?

[Since that's why he's here, after all. He leans on the door frame, not wanting to intrude further to sit unless invited.]

See, that's where my opinions get all weird.

Both games are supposed to make a new world, both games have players and pawns, both games sucked people into it without any real warning. I was a player in that game until I went back in time and became my own spirit animal but thats another line of bullshit all together, but as players we got access to powers and technically access to races of people who were legit chess piece looking motherfuckers we coulda used but we kinda fucked off on that whole thing entirely cuz none of us actually thought to use them.

-=he pauses, trying to get back on track again. also breathing=-

Okay so like, it's pretty obvious we're the chess people and they're the players, complete with stupid titles and powers and shit. What if they don't got any more choice in this than we do? Like it was in Sburb. Same genre, different game.

[Lyall settles, and listens patiently, nodding thoughtfully, though in the end there's one thing that doesn't fit:]

It's a good theory, and it may have some truth to it, but I do believe they have told some of us that they choose to play this game, in order to revive their fallen allies. Something about this game gives them the power to do something they want, whether that desire is to save lives or destroy them.

[He pauses, thinking.]

Rather, putting it that way, it sounds like Questing Country-- everyone went through trials and tests to try and win the Valance, which gave the winner a wish to change something in the real world.

I'll grant that they may have other ways of obtaining this power than through the game, which was also something we discovered in Questing Country, but perhaps they simply don't know that, and so they are trapped into this particular sort of game.

We chose to play too, technically. Hell, I didn't even want to the reviews were shit and it looked fuckin dumb but I got talked into it and now I'm a fucking bird. -=he shrugs=- Pretty sure not a damn one of us expected it to actually start fucking with reality. Like the disks came in the mail and we installed it like any other game.

Did they lose their friends while playing? Cuz that would make sense. I had to do the same shit.

Well, they've lost a couple while playing-- Heirophant and Star, I'd heard, and one other I'm blanking on. But no, the game was started because one of them died. It may have been Fortune, the one who won the last round, I'd have to check my notes. Either way, that was the plan, that they start the game up to bring her back.

[He does have to pause and ask, though:]

Disks came in the mail? Your world-ending game showed up like an AOL cd?

[Do kids these days still remember that?]

And playing killed more of them, fuckers got amazing decision making skills.

-=and no, he's not old enough to remember that, but old enough to have at least sort of heard about it on the internet because of memes, so he gets it sort of=-

That's a little disturbing, I have to admit. Anyone could have gotten a hold of them. Anyone did, if yours was meant for your brother.

I do know that a couple of the Arcana want to stop the games. Some on more peaceful ways than others. Death, I believe, is the only one who'd end them safely.

"I had my own, just needed to steal my Bro's because reasons." Stupid reasons. "And I dunno, it's more complicated than I make it sound. Pretty sure it was always supposed to be this way, but even with my neta hax backend knowledge from bein a sprite I dunno if any other game sessions actually got started like ours did."

Or survived long enough to actually get anywhere.

"Death? How you figure?"

"Even if it hadn't been stated on the network, it does make sense," Lyall answers. "Death is about endings and changes-- but in a fairly peaceful, thoughtful sort of way. Tower is also about endings and changes, but no one wants Tower to have their way here. I wish we could talk to all of them. Mingle among them, perhaps, and ask whatever questions of all of them at once that we had for them. Even if one couldn't or wouldn't answer properly, another might have something useful to say."

"Kinda feel like we should hold an election or some shit. Pick who we back to win." He doubts people would adhere to the consensus, but it's better than just running blind and hoping someone wins that doesn't suck massive donkey sack.

"I'd like to think that they're not all shitty."
