Ah... hey everyone, it's Ambrose. I was Milo for a while there but I'm back to being me and one hundred percent less tree-like. So, I've gotta ask do we uh. I mean, some other folks've gotta be wondering too so--

[ a slight pause, then in a rush: ]

What's the least harmful way we can test for immortality? Cuz I wouldn't put it past the Arcana to leave people stuck with that.

[ he's totally not asking for a friend, okay. ]

Speaking of Arcana: I'd like to meet with all the folks who've been Marked by the Fool - he calls himself Don Orlea - so maybe we can coordinate or. Something. Dunno if we want to do it all together or what but either way, I'll provide snacks.

It is a week of torture trapped in a soft, webbed space without light, flickering in and out of consciousness, and no one to talk to, not even on the Network. I understand it is a more crude, emergency sort of renewal. When one dies in a Jaunt land, the only pain is that of the manner of death itself.

It happened to me and one other person. I am not in a hurry to test it on someone else. You will see why if you read the account of it in the Workshop's library.

There's a library with stuff written by folks here? I thought it was just all old books.

Books are written by people, and no one is stopping us from writing them.

[ To Altaïr, who grew up with one, a library was a living, breathing center of knowledge to be constantly updated, not a dusty, unused room for old books. ]

I myself keep notes on the Jaunts, and anything else we might find useful. I encourage everyone to place their own accounts there as well.

There are a few I know who contribute regularly by writing. From this Jaunt, I have received new additions in the form of... these not-paintings... [ come on, remember the Greek roots... ] photographs.

If you die on a jaunt, you come back in Liminal Space. Happened to me twice, both while infiltrating.

Yeah, I heard that - I meant what happened here. Sounds like it's none too permanent, so I guess that might be a legitimate way ta test if you're immortal. Since if somethin' else than the usual happens when you come back, or if you can't die or somethin'.

Okay fair enough but, ah, avoiding the process of dying altogether's what I'm aiming for. It hurts others as much as it hurts me.

This is more of an any harm whatsoever to a human-ish being causes hurt to my fella thing. It's part of his programming.

...if 'omnic' can also mean robot, android, cyborg, or similar, then yeah. He's a humaniform robot. And the first law of robotics is to not injure a person, or through inaction allow a person to be harmed.
